UPDATE

I am on top of basically all known bugs, so even though I expect to receive a lot more feedback, I guess it's time for a clean-up build. If you've been waiting to play, this version should be a smoother experience! Unsure if the public release will be Friday, because I could be getting feedback very late in the week.

0.65.1

- None of the bugs were catastrophic, but some prevented players from getting credit for unlocking portraits.

- For those who don't want base customization, a succubus assistant will now offer a pre-set selection of portraits.

- Simon is now optional during Lilith's dungeon.

- In Altina's quests, people who offer hints about going to other locations now remain until the location has been found.

- The Northern Crown's stats have been changed, not necessarily buffed.

- Alternate Robin sprite thanks to Lamsey.

- Misc bugfixing and polishing.

I made my best effort to stop characters who haven't joined from appearing in Janine's quest. If anyone is left, that's a bug.

I saw there was discussion of Lilith's math, but this didn't make it into the .1 version. Juggling too much, sorry.

ORIGINAL POST

It's time! I have a meaty update for everyone with a wide variety of content, plus the long-awaited portrait feature! I hope everyone will enjoy this. ^-^

TLS 0.65.0

- New plot quest, beginning in the Renthnor Wilds.

- New harem quest, beginning in the Yhilini Royal Chambers (any time in Chapter 5).

- New harem quest, beginning in the base front hall (any time after the Incubus War).

- New harem quest beginning in the Renthnor Wilds (after completing the new plot quest).

- Major new base feature: full portrait mode, including 29 unique pieces of art and 125 paintings total!

- New harem member, with either 1 or 15 sex scenes, depending on how you count.

- Aside from that, two plot sex scenes.

- Final combat party member, bearing 17 new skills and some bizarre mechanics.

- In Balia's challenge, teaching orcs skills only costs essence once each iteration. If you create new orcs, you can teach them already-learned skills for no additional cost.

- The Simon Recovery variable has been slightly tweaked now that there are more than enough points.

- 5 new illustrated scenes: Aka's New Form, Hilstara X Succubi, Lynine's First Time, Megail 100, Orilise's First Time

Some notes for players:

This should be reasonably well-tested, with one exception. Janine's harem quest is available early and will absolutely break continuity if played at the earliest point. I believe this is the only thing I tapped out on and hoped players will help get the relevant switches.

Lilith's quest is likely to involve party swapping. I considered making Simon optional for this section, but didn't end up doing it. I may revisit this depending on feedback.

Man, the portrait feature was a beast. Everyone is now contractually obligated to enjoy it. (But really, if you have a good time with it, maybe show off your portrait selection to everyone?)

Overall, this update is not heavy, loaded with plot twists, or an optimizing challenge. But I've filled it with lots of little things I think will make TLS more fun overall, so I hope everyone enjoys it. ^-^

1st bug report! Withered Mountain Wind sound effect persists @ elven kingdoms conference site.

Just started playing, but I will insist on making Janine's quest start signposted better, please. Interacting with the easel is legit cryptic and I basically went oldschool point&click adventure on the area before finding it.

WaxerRed

Lilith Abode was a great dungeon, had a lot of fun with all those chests! A very real challenge too. Even better are all her whacky interactions and sex scenes, these are some o f the best in game!

Innocuous

The game crashes trying to view Lilith in Yarra's harem menu.

Suddenly Hats

I can't start the harem quest in Renthor Wilds. I've already finished Lilith's abode, which was a fun ton of fun, but I'm not finding anything new in the last outpost

ADAMN.

Few things: 1. Is the new question mark entry in the Other harem tab an error? 2. Some paintings aren't available to view in the gallery even though I unlocked them all in Janine's quest. Looking at the switches, AltinaBig, Vhala/Dari Old & New and Qum's Drawing are all unchecked. 3. You want a hug? Obviously I know nothing about you personally, but for whatever reason I'd really like to give you a hug.

ADAMN.

Also, the game crashes when viewing Lynine’s First Time

Even though there were hints in the various previous weekly updates, I hadn't realized how big the portrait quest truly was, in term of different pictures, variant, dialogues, mechanisms... before actually completing it. Good job everyone, must have been quite the batch of work. ... And somehow I will shamelessly request even more work of you by asking for a default setup for portraits in the base, for lazy people like me who like to delegate virtual home decoration to succubus in a red coat rather than personalize it themselves. Bugs and misc remarks: On my save (sane Altina, monstruous appearance Dari), some portraits (Qum's Drawing, Dari and Vhala, Altina) don't show up in the big configuration screen for the base even after being unlocked at the retreat. After Janine paints Sarai's portrait, it's possible for an inert Sarai's sprite to remain in place next to Janine's own until some other condition is met (sadly, I didn't think of taking a screenshot at the bad point). Admittedly, when someone mentioned flowers in an Yhilini context, I was expecting the very wise speculator from Chapter 1 to make a cameo. I'm not sure if the Northern Crown exists in several versions, is supposed to be a consolation price if you can't unlock other options, or something like that. But, without more context, the fact it's basically strictly worst than a 5,000 Sx Sublime Collar feels weird. Likely on purpose, but Ivala and Mithyn can apparently reach their 100 affection threshold without triggering a lock conversation?

A fun couple of hours! Started off with what turned out to be Altina's quest. Nothing grand, but still fun to mess around with. The "Daughters of Elves" dillema honestly gave me pause, so good job on that one. The headband for Altina is pretty atrocious though, unless there is a hidden effect I'm missing. The Sublime Collar you can get for a bit of pocket change severely outcompetes or matches it in every area, barring Luck. Altina's item could probably use a buff. Then I went for Lilith, which surprised me by how much I enjoyed it. The dungeon was fun, if not a little bit easy to mow through with my usual blitz strategy of Simon, Robin, Varia and Riala. Those speed-punishing foes hit hard, true. But only once did you face more than one, and in every other encounter you could generally just mow down 1-2 foes per turn, while Simon kept healing. Then again, my roster is pretty amped on busted gear and optimization, so maybe it's really fine. I wonder though, is there any dialogue or rewards if you choose to open *all* the chests? Could be pretty fun to have it acknowledged in some form (If not just by Lilith indirectly calling you a dumbass for making things harder for yourself) It might already be in the game, and I just missed it, as I opened a few. Lilith as a character grew on me immensily, as I initially hypothesised she would be just Trin 2.0- Godmode, in terms of personality. But I really like your take of chaos being, well, chaotic, and I suppose any attempts at fully predicting her personality would be doomed from the start. Her scene was damn fun too. Never thought I would read of bees being used in that context, but I guess Annikath will have some fun work to do on that one. Speaking of Annikath, the portraits are here, and they all look excellent! So fantastic work here. Bringing her onboard was such a great decision in hindsight, I think. She keeps getting better. Loved the dialogue in Janine's villa, simple as it was. Would like you to know that the portraits all work flawlessly in my game, baring the few missing from the selection menu, that others already have reported. Finally, Trin's quest which was... surprisingly quick. I beat that thing in around 5 minutes. I like the concept and the Trin-Lilith dynamic, but it seems like there might have been an opportunity to squeeze out a bit more dialogue out of the quest, and add closure to Trin's close-to-ending character arc? Not any melodrama, but you're a fantastic writer, and you just had the sociopathic, anarchist bitch meet the force of nature that she basically built a life philosophy around. Idk, maybe there is something more there to unpack, maybe not. I thought it went by quickly, but I still enjoyed it, for what it was. Either way a great update that went slightly above already high expectations. I'm still anxious for the inevitable endgame, but I can definitely appreciate this buildup, and all the great character- and story moments that come from it. I believe it will make the game feel so much alive, when it's all said and done. "That's about it. See ya"

Really great update. First, some bug reports: - Altina appears for her final quest even if not recruited. - The Lilith dungeon area is called 'Lilith's Abed' in the save game file instead of, I'm assuming, 'Lilith's Abode' - Riala has a line in the Lilith dungeon: "She's being intentionally obsure. Surely we can find something that would normally extend deep underground?" Should be obscure - Janine during Ralke's painting: "It's remarkably how quickly you can work. I'm standing in awe more than anything...: Should be 'It's remarkable...' - In the ledger under 'OTHER INVESTMENTS', 'Ghenalon/Rodak Trade:' and 'Rodak Trade Network:' both have that colon after the name. Not sure about every investment. - Some corrections from trying to verify all the Lilith scenes: - In the 'Tower Magic Nap' one, page 3 starting with 'Simon looked towards the foot of the bed...' has the line 'They was wearing as little as Yarra...' which should be 'They were' - In the same scene, page 12 starting with 'Does it really feel that different' is missing a quotation mark at the very start - In the 'Silent Lilith' one, page 5 starting with 'When it seemed like she could barely stay up...' slightly overflows the text box - In the 'Lovely Dovey Style' one, first should it be 'lovey dovey style'? Second, page 4 starting with 'For a time he remained overhead...' overflows the text box - In the 'Normal Sex' one, page 4 starting with 'Simon squeezed the flesh in his hands...' overflows the text box - This section through me off when I realized that there were 3 different scenes starting with 'This is one of my favorites...' Feedback - Lilith is fine, definitely not my favorite but I appreciate what you've done. The dungeon itself is a lot of fun, as is the return with Trin. I didn't find it hard necessarily, some resets but by the end nearly everyone in the party bench was dead. - The Altina quest seems fine at first pass, I actually really like the more contained feeling nature of it instead of another travel the world and talk to everyone setup. It also has some interestingly uncomfortable sections and concepts in it which is great. - Portraits. First the quest itself seems good. Not sure how much of 'doing some now and some later' there is it to, because I either have decently optimized saves or ones where it's so bad Yhilin isn't in final stage so it won't even start. Second, the image scale seems pretty good when in decoration form. You get the feeling of the image even at smaller sizes. It does feel like there should be a frame spot in the throne room (and maybe the front entrance hallway), although in both cases it would cause of asymmetry. I really like the ribbons on Alonon and Mestan (and Trin, if she died) but what about Antiala and Zelica who are, unless I'm mistaken, also gone? I also find it weird and yet compelling that you have the option to put up pictures of the other incubus kings. They're also dead but it makes a kind of sense to not honor them with ribbons, yet at the same time why is the option there to put them up at all? Like after I realized it was an option, I started thinking of the worst things I could do. Probably putting up an image of Tanaruk in the room Trin used to be before he killed her, or making Iris work under a portrait of her former boss. And yet having the option is what makes it so compelling and feel like a meaningful choice to put up something different. Also I feel like some of the images available in the portrait gallery aren't used right now in the game, like Lord of Blood or Skullcrusher/Skullpounder. Final Questions - In the various things that Lilith text can display, I like the various things that can appear. I get the 5318008 and the 9999 ones, but I'm not sure if the 3x10^23 is a reference I'm not getting or just some arbitrarily large number. 3x10^[some number] reminds me of speed of light (~3x10^8) and [some number]x10^23 reminds me of Avogadro's number (~6x10^23) but I don't know about 3x10^23. Also my favorite of these is Spooky Ghost Lilith, or something. - After doing the Trin quest and getting the Diadem of Domination, there was a lightning strike just outside even though it's a cloudless day, and then my nose started bleeding profusely for no reason. Anyway, when I tried to go back to a previous save and make better choices all my saves had been replaced with Lilith saying 'What's happening, fucko?' in the slowest text speed crawl over and over again. Now someone keeps knocking but there's no one there and I just hear laughter over and over. Is this like a bug or something? It's immersive and responsive to my choices, which is good, but also I am scared of what I may have unleashed.

Here is another long comment, Sierra and Annikath. One that seems appropriate on an update, where art is such a core pillar of the update. I wanted to ask and argue some points regarding the artwork and advertisement for TLS: Have you thought of having Annikath updating the promo-art, and some of the other artworks, that serve as most player's first impressions of the game? Here are my thoughts: First impressions are *everything* in the world of video games. I know for a fact that I have shut down several video games forever, after a few minutes, due to the writing, presentation or artstyle not appealing to my spoiled preferences in the first few minutes. Or opted out of games on steam, simply due to the fact that the banner looked less than stellar. I even stopped playing TLS once, after the prologue, a few years before I got into it proper, on a recomendation from a friend. You look at any game's achievement statistics, you see how many games are shut down within the first few hours or so. Before people get a chance to react to good writing, they first react to visuals. And fortunately, you've got an excellent artist on staff that seems more than equipped for improving any potential new player's visual experience. There might much artwork left to do, but it seems to me that these hypothetical first impression artworks likely outrank them all in importance by orders of magnitude, if you wanna judge them by how much they will do to attract additional players to the game. I think the ability of TLS to catch the fleeting attention span of a modern gamer could be significantly upgraded with just 3 additional pieces of artwork: 1) The banner artwork: The first thing that people see when they enter TLS's Steam, Blogspot or this Patreon Page. Having a few RPGM sprites as the first encounter with the game likely already costs you potential buyers in the door. And experienced RPGM gamers might even recognize characters like Altina and Qum as edited basic RPGM sprites, which sadly seems low effort. Annikath could likely create a beautiful and more dynamic artwork with the very same characters and make an immediate "next in queue" button press much more unlikely for Steam users. 2) The Main Menu/Incubus Prison Escape artwork of Simon: Now this image is conceptually stunning, especially after the escape scene. And the shadow of a man, looking out on a desolated battlefield makes for as cool of a concept for a Main Menu as can be. But it honestly looks a bit dated and low(ish) effort. Not to mention, it doesn't exactly mesh that well with the artstyle Annikath uses for all the rest of the game. Once again, first impressions: The kind that keep a new player who is a bit bored and unsure on which long game to dedicate himself to next from closing soon after, and instead hooks his attention with a beautifully brutal image of a lone survivor on a battlefield (with some badass music) 3) The initial SimonxRiala scene artwork. Annikath has definitely improved her art, update by update, piece by piece. Which brings me to this scene, which might just be *the* most important scene in the game (if you're talking sales numbers) Riala and Simon is where the prologue's facade drops and the narrative starts to take itself seriously. Which is why it seems to me like this scene must be more than good. It must be show that without a doubt that the rest of the game aspires to be the paragon of quality that it is, and shake off the confusion and potential quitting-itch of whichever players came into the game with doubts in their mind, whether this was for them. This scene *must* be perfect, to keep as many players aboard the boat, while the story slowly hooks them. And to be frank, in it's current form, I think it's one of the weaker pieces of art in the game. It's evident that it's one of the first artworks done. There isn't much movement, not much passion. it looks more like a renaissance painting, than a sex scene. It's not really, y'know, *hot*. And I think that fact costs players. Makes the game look a bit overly ... high-brow? For lack of a better word? My point is, I think Annikath has gotten far better with time. Her drawing of faces, movement, breathing, anatomy, backgrounds... It has all gone up, and if she so wanted, she could return to the original sex scene, and bring it up to the fantastic standards she's kept for the last several updates. With just these 3 pieces of art, I believe that the percentage of players who go from clicking on this game's Steam page, to buying it, to playing way past the prologue could increase to a noticeable degree. That's just my thoughts though. I just want more people to discover this gem of a game. I hope it's at least something new to think about, or an angle you haven't explored too deeply before. Either way, I'm aboard this TLS train till at lands at 1.0.0 station. Ciao!

That was a really fun update! Janine's quest was so cute. I do have a bug report I think is different than the others reported so far. In the scene where Janine makes the Robin/Wendis portrait, she doesn't actually show off the alternate version of Robin even though she says she does. Luckily it is still accessible during the portrait selection, but it makes the scene a bit more confusing. I really enjoyed Lilith's content! The recruitment quest was fun and the dungeon was really pleasant to look at and explore (even more so in Trin's quest). Her scenes... I asked for bugfuck crazy and you delivered that and more. I actually said "Not the bees!" out loud haha! You said earlier that you didn't think anyone would find her scenes erotic, but then you also made the Megaboob scene, so I'm getting mixed messages there... XD jesus christ I'm still processing all her scenes. I spent a long time cycling through her greetings and scenes and that was just really fun and wild! I also adored Trin's quest and just how many dialogue events you put into the dungeon for like every little object. I also like how Trin's quest was honestly one of the most humble of the groups. It wasn't really a bid for world-dominating power and the trip wasn't even really her idea. She just thought it would be fun to fuck around with her new bad bitch friend. I found it pretty cute. Still crying over the fact that Mestan is actually for reals dead though. We barely cracked his shell and started bonding with him. #neverforget #lostprince #sunkencontinent Altina's quest felt very satisfying to me from a character perspective. I really liked that we went back to the very beginning and addressed Altina's sorrow about the elves. That was her first interaction that wasn't just being a fangirl to the Chosen. I really like Altina as a character. The daughters of elves question really was a tough one for me though, I do have one request for making that quest more accessible, however. There are multiple interactions that provide hints of where else in the world to go to get influence for her quest (such as Ulrissa's tower). However, once you first have the conversation giving the hint of where to go, the speaker disappears and you can't see the hint again. If I talk to them and then save and quit to come back later, I could totally forget those threads, or if I misinterpreted the hint about where to go and wanted to double check (Like I tried to go to various Tower areas to get Ulrissa's help), I couldn't do that. Would you be able to keep those hint givers there until their help is completed? All in all, I greatly enjoyed this update and am so happy the portrait mechanic has finally been implemented! I spent a good amount of time fine tuning where I wanted all my paintings to go to tailor the themes of the rooms

Lamsey

I avoided the earlier discussion about Lilith since I wanted to avoid spoilers, but having read back, I'm glad you changed course from your initial plans. I'd have found pseudo-lolita stuff utterly abhorrent, whereas pretty much everything about Lilith's content in this update is hilarious. Particular highlights for me: pulling unexpected things out of chests, such as "another dimension" or "a Lilith"; bees; her shifting relationship indicators; bees; the "why the hell do you keep talking to me" reaction; the flavour text on all the props during Trin's quest; and bees. She genuinely feels chaotic in a way that freshens things up, and in that sense I can see the appeal to a man reluctantly considering his own immortality. Janine's quest is also one big "D'awwwwww" from start to finish. I eagerly await the patch to allow me to put Qum's creation in its rightful pride of place. Altina's quest provides some nice variety - more tricky in terms of roleplaying than in optimising numbers, particularly with the Daughters of Elves. I increasingly find myself being less bothered about numerically optimal routes than in what feels right for the characters, and this is a good example (saving Carina's men being the other hill I will die on). I'll still look into the numbers at some point for QA purposes, but I thought the point was worth mentioning since I hope you'll take it as a compliment to your worldbuilding / character building. Combat balance in Lilith's quest was OK for me - a little bit of shuffling to avoid weaknesses for specific battles, but nothing too peaky or frustrating. The hardest one for me was the one with three DEF-hitters, since I tend towards having good defence on all characters.

Jeffrey Lebowski

I forgot to mention it on the last post, but I really liked that we got the Black Gloves back. Coming out of the Prison without them made me sad, but it feels appropriate that we get them back in some form by paying extra special attention to Lilith's dungeon.

DukeLeto7

Errata: The portrait hanging in Esthera's throne room is displayed as Sabitha + Aka on map, but as Nalili + Esthera when viewed. When accessing the painting select menu in the Extradimensional Base, the painting selection room retains the purplish "Tower Tint".

Kevin Taylor

Catching up on a few updates at once led to doing Balia's quest after doing Lilith's. Lilith is an available party member while using the pure orcs while all other characters are removed from use. I'm guessing that is unintended (though her complete lack of skills with 0 synergies leaves her as just an enormous ball of stats with a basic attack).

Dally Ranma

So I just downloaded the new version and did Lilith's quest. I went to talk to Yarra about the harem and when I tried to scroll to Lilith the game crashed with Script 'CSCA Harem' line 868: Type Error occured

Innocuous

Additional thoughts on portraits: 1/ It feels like Janine should put up at least 1 portrait in the Yhilian palace, probably the one of her and Simon married. 2/ I think Wynn would also put up something of Wendis in her place in Zirantia. 3/ Not sure if intentional or not, but if you have the succubus set up pictures, then the four spaces in the Trin area are Trin twice, one empty frame, and one missing frame (although you can still interact with the spot to put something up). If I could make a suggestion for filling out the space: Trin, Trin, Trin, and Simon's dick. 4/ Unless I'm miscounting, the special images not preset in the palace are: Ralke, Ginasta, Ivala/Carina, Wendis dressed, Sarai, Janine/Simon, Simon, and zoomed in Simon. Sarai has her picture in her place, and Ralke is in the orc caves. I mentioned above where I think the Janine/Simon and dressed Wendis images could go. Putting up the Ivala/Carina image in the Carina mission church is still probably too ridiculous (but maybe regular Ivala portrait?). The Ginasta one is a bit meme-y, but if it showed up in the world somewhere that would make me happy. 5/ Unless you're opposed to using the regular sprite portraits, I would also suggest the Doom King portrait be added to the Doom King Palace in the Chalice States, to go with the statues.

WaxerRed

Minor bug in 65.1, you can have the intro conversation to the painting quest twice. Once from the sparkle in front of the canvas, and again when interacting with the canvas itself.
