0.67.0

- The succession crisis can now be resolved via a new quest line beginning in Ardford.

- New harem quest beginning in Ardford Religious District.

- Three new sex scenes.

- Four new illustrated scenes: Hilstara x Lynine, Yarra's Joint Squad, Megail + Orilise, Nalili Tentacles

- Item sell bug (hopefully) fixed.

This update was rough on me. I hope everyone agrees that the heart is there: the characters, the decisions, and the consequences of many actions. It probably shouldn't have major bugs or issues. But the dev period was basically all crunch, so I'm unsure how it will feel to play and the math underneath is virtually certain to change.

The main attraction is going to be the conclusion of the succession crisis, obviously. I've seen some speculation that elements I never intended to include will be relevant, which makes me a bit anxious. In any case, I am open to suggestions for additional factors, variables, and complications. This update will vary so much based on past decisions that I'm not sure about the balance for save types I don't have. I definitely punted some testing the playerbase on this one.

Aside from that, we have a full harem quest for Dari! I'm glad I finally got to give her a mystery. ^-^ Designing mystery games is fundamentally tricky and I didn't revolutionize any wheels here. It's not too complex, but that isn't my goal: I hope that it will be an enjoyable change of pace amid all the dungeons and optimizations in the endgame.

Also three sex scenes, giving me an opportunity to write substantially different tones than usual. I had fun with that and hopefully someone else will too. Next update will be more conventional and likely include some succubus wildness.

Speaking of which, onward!

YOOOOOOO I been hoping Dari finally gets a real mystery! Oh... and that Ardoheim stuff too, I guess ;P Can't way to try it!

Spaaaaace

Thank you for the update. Your hard work is impressive.

No succession crisis bad end with the Doom King taking over and getting a crownjob. 0/10 would not recommend.

Hell yeah! Time for Tyna to get some with Kalant! When she feels comfortable with it of course.

That was awesome, I'm very satisfied with how these stories played out! I'll admit I was hoping that Dari's quest would involve a bit more player agency in asserting my theories with the possibility of being wrong, but it played out more like a show than a puzzle. But the narrative itself was very engaging and satisfying, and I enjoyed still trying to piece together everything myself while I was being drip-fed information. I was also very happy to see that it resolved one of the most mysteries minor plot points in the game that had been eating away at me for some time! Plus the banter is always hilarious when Dari is involved. The end of the succession crisis was fun too! There's some bugs, namely that you can request Jhenno and Ghanth to support someone multiple times, which I think just lets you send Kalant to the moon on a wave of public opinion. I was unreasonably fearful that Farnan would suddenly pull some opportunistic stunt if we supported him too much, but I'm glad to see he's just a good lad. The orc noble was a brilliant touch, loved his character as small as it was. It was kinda hilariously jarring to see Simon just kinda go off the rails with basically everyone! I think that might have been the most amount of times he used his angry face in one section XD. Clearly he does not feel like messing around when it comes to his apprentice's future! All in all, I had a lot of fun with this update, and it was very nice to see the game react to just a massive amount of past decisions in visible ways! God, that must have been rough to pull off.

OK. I haven't cracked open the game logic and I'm not going to this weekend, but I have the following notes: When the party is told that Sister Huarina and Lady Trishia fought at the embassies, it is misspelled twice as embasseys. It's possible to pick Ghanth's support option multiple times. Dunno if this gives multiple benefits. The dialogue between Kalant and Ignias is not properly centered if you enter the garden from east side door. Probably true of other entrances as well. It's not clear enough that talking to Kalant and allowing him to act is going to cause him to bugger off. It also doesn't seem to have much effect as I was able to choose him anyway. The orc noble also "hangs out" with Kalant at his room even if you decide on where to send him after Kalant buggers off. Fennia's sprite in the murder mystery is too yellow in the face to match her face set. Maybe have Lamsey or whoever edit it. (Nitpick.) Hope that helps, the update gave me a pleasanter evening than I was expecting.

I am pleased to say i thoroughly enjoyed this update! I had somewhat lowered my expectations given your comments about how it could feel like just 5 minutes of content and thought maybe i would just miss a great deal of events. I was wrong. The finale to the succession mission was great and Dari's mystery was much more fun than I thought it would be. To get the importantly bad stuff out of the way first. There are currently bugs which trivialize the entire point system and decision making during the current sucession event. Both Ghanth and Jhenno for some reason can be asked multiple times to grant you their favor. All other decissions i ran into seemed to work without a hitch but these two for the most part let you just do whatever you want since you can max our tyna's strenght and stability while also maxing support in any way you see fit without needing to compromise or put a real effort into it. I have to play again to see some different changes but i'll wait for the .1 update for that. It was actually very nice to see two of these "rivals" have a heart to heart. I know we are the protagonists and i'm weary of games that just give you cutscenes that your character has no way to know happeneded and have no effect on you whatsoever, but it kinda felt like a Bechdel test of sorts. Having two characters outside of the party talk about something that isn't the main party felt great. It made me apreciatte both characters a lot more since both felt a fairly bland before that. Dari's Mystery however was an unexpectedly egaging activity. I even liked it more than the succession event! Having this supporting character have her moment in the spotlight as much more of a methaphorical bloodhound and detective and less of a literal tracking bloodhound and good pair of eyes was nice. She comes of as very perceptive. not just having a great sense of smell and sight but being able to "sniff out" lies and point out inconsistencies. She is passionate and isn't affraid of playing bad cop or bending the rules a bit to get answers but ultimately wishes to find justice and even when it's relatively small she wants to see this corrupt white collar guy pay the consequences for his ill deeds. The mystery itself was pretty interesting. All the ways it bends into itself and seems to turn into multiple red herrings with a couple of clear answers turns into something that is put upside down. Like you said, it's not reinventing the wheel but it was a nice little mystery polished and wrapped up. Turns out Nalili was wrong, there was a more surprising answer nobody seemed to see comming. I genuinely laughed at myself that Dari's mystery ended up with no combat whatsoever. I guess you have conditioned us pretty hard to save and prepare our formation everytime we see blue wisps of flames, huh? A single easy combat in the middle of a talk heavy update was the perfect contrast to remind us why we like this work of fiction so much. It is a shame you crunched so hard for this. I was fairly surprised to see it today. Hopefully you will be able to rest a little easier knowing this was definetly a hit for me. P.D. kinda weird one of the suspects can just step out of the cathedral to go and chat with you. Did they just promise to go look for you and be on their best behavior? or did the seemingly unathletic person just sneaked through all the guards. perhaps a single comment explaining they wanted to confess or something along those lines could explain it.

I was hoping that it was Riala in the Teleport chamber who triggered the Succesion Crisis part 2. Another option will be that Tyna contact the group by using the crystals in Simon's room. The crystal in front of the castle feels a little forced (into my eyes at least).

Aria the bunny

One issue I've noticed is that the event in the garden between Kalant and Ignias doesn't re-center the camera, so if you enter the room from the right side you miss some of the non-text portions.

I'm sorry to hear that the making of the update was such a crunch on you. I hope it is of any consolation to hear that it was very fun to play! I enjoyed both the mystery with Dari and the conclusion of the succession crisis! Your writing was as relaxing and enjoyable to read as ever. I looked around a bit in rpgmaker at all the different factors and switches that went into the event, and WHEW I can understand how it was a headache to get together. On the update itself, I quite enjoyed the events of the succession crisis. I was glad to see that none of the remaining suitors were 'evil' or even 'bad' they all just had their own way of doing things. Each of their sex scenes were well written and fit perfectly to the character. It was nice to see so many of our past allies and friends step up to help, Elleani, Trin with her copies, Janine, and even Grubbak sent someone! Grubbak actually helped us without asking for something in return!? Trin must have replaced him with a copy off screen... And the Dari side quest was fantastic! I loved the good cop bad cop from Dari and Carina! Nothing much to add for it, besides my love! I'm happy to see some of the minor plot threads get closed up. Finally we learned who the heck summoned those demons to attack Tyna, we got rid of that awful Ardan councilor, and I saw Farnan and Luanell happily married. I set them up just on a feeling, and I'm glad it seems to have worked out so well for them! From the looks of it she does alright if she was left single....and a lot less so if she tried to court Bhakan. In your post you mentioned being open to additional factors to play with. Perhaps something from high priestess Annah? Her being the only high Priestess of the nation has to count for something. Perhaps how we treated her at Gawnfall and at the Stienford section comes into play? Beyond that, would some Ivala RP gain for finishing Dari's quest be possible? I suggest it because I assume we are running out of chances to improve the RP of most characters, and seeing as this quest is cleaning up a mess left by Hester, I'd assume Ivala would approve. Some minor bugs to report. On page 5 of Jhenno's event, we have the option ask his support for any of the three suitors. We can pick any of them multiple times, but hitting "No one for now" locks us out from talking with him. In the library there is someone who is suspicious of Kalant being on scene to save Tyna. It looks like there is supposed to be a branch to have Dari provide her evidence and clear Kalant's name, however she won't do this even if her quest is completed. Lastly, I have two minor nitpicks that can be taken with a grain of salt and freely ignored! The first nitpick is the disturbance quest in the palace. It was rather boring, especially if compared to say, Ginasta's treasure hunt in her home village. In the case of the treasure hunt we were able to follow clues to where we were going, and the party had great banter. The palace disturbance quest gave no clues, which meant walking in circles of the palace, and the dialogue was bland and repetitive. Not something I'd say needs to be 'fixed' for this update, but just wanted to have it something said for reference in making future content of the kind! The second even more minor nitpick, is for the music used in the Chapel during Dari's quest. While it fits, I think that track should be saved solely for the atmosphere of the IK prison, to let that section keep its unique unsettling nature. But that's just me. Overall, a great update! I'd say I can't wait for the next update, but since this one gave you a serious feeling of crunch, I will happily wait for as long as you need to recover!

About Dari's quest: I really, really like it. It fits Dari's personality quite nicely, it's a quiet, slice-of-life type of quest (like Hilstara's) and it's a good counterpart to the minmaxing madness that Tyna's wedding it's going to create. Also, it's great to finally solve the origin of the demon's attack. And although it was available in the last update, I'm really glad to have gotten the Transcedent Ring: it totally rocks, from what I had seen.

I've only made a brief run through so far, with Tyna marrying Kalant for maximum d'aww. Balance seems OK - my historical choices look favourable, and it looks like I was able to get positive outcomes on both political scores. Thanks for providing the evaluation of Tyna's prospects in text as well as numerical form. I'll try for other outcomes when testing a later build. Haven't looked under the hood yet - I assume others will cover that. I very much enjoyed the whodunnit quest. Dari plays a pretty straight Agatha Christie-style bat, which is fine for a side quest, but if the opportunity ever arises, I would love to see you playing with the tropes of that genre in a novel. PS - I'm about to head to climbing, then I will be suffering through Eurovision for a friend's birthday party, then I will be hungover due to my use of alcohol to deaden the pain of Eurovision, so replies may be delayed.

Great update, a wholesome conclusion to the ardan crisis. Concluding a plot is often far harder than introducing it, and you managed successfully (but I may be biasied because I love happy ending). Can you confirm that thenew sex scene are all linked to Tyna different wedding ? Because if not, I missed them. Did you consider allowing a wedding between Ignias and Luanell ? I though this would be an option (but I may have missed the requirements). Anyway, thank a lot for the upddate and do take care of yourself.

Innocuous

Thought this was a great update. Dari quest was one of my favorites so far: fun, nicely self contained, good character moments, and answered a question that probably didn't need an answer but it's nice to have one anyway. I also do appreciate that you can finger the wrong person and just move on. The Tyna event is pretty good too. I am mildly disappointed that you can't screw up the pairing too badly. Even the 'worst' choice of Bhakan has merits in that Tyna is still happy, just not the most happy. Because as humorous as it would be to see Antarion on the throne (for the chance to give his audition in the 'worst world leader' competition) it's probably too farfetched for something most players would never see. As for balance, I was still able to get what seems like a good result (>10 strength and unity) on a reasonably optimized save, and a decent result on a slightly less optimized save (>10 strength, ~8 unity) where Trin was dead and Ghanth was mad, but even then I think I might be able to make different choices in the event and get there. I will say that in a save where Janine does not appear to offer help, then after a final decision is made Simon is sitting alone on the bench where Janine would be but isn't, and they're having a conversation. It's a minor thing I only noticed going between different saves.

Edward Culham

One thing about Dari's quest. Might be a good idea to have some review mechanic that will allow to look at all past information gotten. Not sure if anyone else agrees, but I felt that the murder was not a murder but an accident on behalf of the priestess for taping into demon power to try and kill Tyna to all Jherno access to the throne

The scenes Hilstara x Lynine, Yarra's Joint Squad, Megail + Orilise are not illustrated (sorry if has been already reported): https://imgur.com/a/6sx08VL

Unsure if it's been mentioned so far, but I was mildly surprised to note that the decision whether or not to allow Tyna to intervene with the Crystal of Ivala during IWA Ardford doesn't come up during the succession - I expected it would provide some malus to either her strength or Ardan Acceptance due to the suspicion surrounding the event. Was it left out intentionally, or being saved for another event?

Ditto

The Ledger doesn't show having a stake in the Amethyst Vineyard. I thought it was cute to sell it for a quick ProN but controlling a national treasure of Aram just is too good to let go. I was playing for an hour without saving and I died... Feel bad for me :P Meh, in all seriousness I went and modified the script "Message Skip" https://pastebin.com/9gQuuYhX Improvements: * Skips faster without accidentally choosing things. Really nice for the long story sections with a choice at the end. * Skips wait times for battle animations and effects. This just gives the skip feature a bit more influence in battles.

Fulminato

good update, enjoied dari quest and it's satisfy seen tyna arc completed i'm not roll the numbers (and i think will hold off until .1 release) but the "gut feeling" are good. i don't have see reported anywhere, but the variable kalant support (#0242) you can build during the first succession crisis is never used, intentional red erring?
