Hello, everyone, it's time for TLS 0.70.0! Which is definitely the next version of TLS!

No, seriously, while I personally think it would be extremely funny to skip over version 69 without comment, I decided not to. Make all the "nice" jokes you want. =P I hope it's a nice update.

TLS 0.69.0

- New harem quest beginning in Theltiar.

- New plot quest beginning in a location revealed within this update.

- New harem quest beginning in base courtyard (contingent on the above plot quest).

- Penultimate harem member, the last before the secret optional member.

- Fully 12 (!) new sex scenes, two of them affection scenes.

- New illustrated scenes: Aka + Varia, Altina From Behind, Restoring Riala, Yarra + Qum + Nalili, and all 15 (!) of Lilith's Chaos scenes

I don't think this update will be too buggy, but background balance tweaks are extremely likely. I've been working on pieces of this over such a long period, I feel disconnected from some of them, and the release schedule didn't allow another round of testing. Hopefully everything is pretty decent, because I think this is quite a balanced chunk of content.

One thing I did run out of time on: consequence dialogue. I focused on changing the big stuff and adding brand new content around the world, but there are likely some random NPCs who should have changed dialogue. I will try to check more later, but feel free to report any for those who care about this.

It has been many, many updates since I've added so many sex scenes at once. It also includes the most variable sex scene in the game: it's only six paragraphs long, but each paragraph has multiple different variants, most of them entire rewrites. You will see why when you get there.

Lynine's Quest: I had in mind a version of this quest that was far more complicated and longer, but went with this instead. I feel that it's the best version of the quest for balancing out all the other endgame content. Maybe I will write that essay on quest design sometime.

Plot Quest: This is meant to be a moderate challenge, so easier than the Lake of Destiny or Yarra's Dungeon. Balance reports still welcome, I just ask hyper-optimized parties to keep in mind that this one is meant to be easier.

Orilise's Quest: The brand new mechanic/game. This was a joke planned years and years ago which may be dated now, but I think it's a good addition to TLS. It's meant to be a puzzle where you experiment and figure out all the connections between the different elements, with trial and error as a fundamental piece of the fun.

There is one scene this update that is unwritten, which I believe is a first for me. This is because it will involve use of art that doesn't exist yet, specifically because of the themes of that section. I hope everyone will feel this makes sense in the end.

This update represents a major step toward the end of the plot and involves a big decision. Sometimes I give players a carefully balanced choice meant to inspire analysis and debate... sometimes a choice is just a degree of freedom for its own sake.

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys. ^-^

Heh-Heh….69. Nice.

Tomanis

69? Nice 😏

Treeman4

Seems to be a very Nice update all things considered, looking forward to going through the new harem quests.

WaxerRed

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER (Racism Decreased) made me laugh so hard. So did the title card for this section. So far I've just started and its the best game within a game ever.

Even though there's probably nothing intended to be here, I have a feeling like, if I could just get past this guy, I could probably find the world's most powerful rats. https://imgur.com/a/M7T6pqe

Y'know, seeing Yelarel again I really hope she gets to have a nice chat with Ivala one of these days.

I am in love with Orilise's Quest! Some of the most silly fun I've had in a long time. I really enjoyed the subtle escalation in the sex scenes, and the dialogue the mother has with everyone as she is forced to come around. Also using the sex scene images as part of the mechanic was a genius idea, I really liked it! Also I saw what level you know who is at, well played. That said, I seem to be stuck right at the end. I have 10/10 Lust 10/10 Openmindness and 7/7 magic. Frigidity and Self-righteousness are at 0. Dichotomous thinking and Racism are at 2. I believe I have talked to everyone and tried repeating all options, but can't find where to go next. Though I may just be missing it, as I did find it a bit hard to spot the sparkles in several places. Might just be my computer brightness, but they are near invisible in certain places. Perhaps changing them to dark sparkles, to be more visible and to represent the EVIL corruption?

Mycroft

Is it normal that you cannot give a shard to all the harem member even with killing the mother ? The choice is already hard, even if all the girls could get a shard with the killing. Maybe I missed something.

Q-Riff

Orilise's quest freezes the menu when you finish it....That's a critical bug.

BleBle

The update is great!!!!! But I was locked in orilise quest in the menu.

Great update. I have honestly been pretty strictly against the idea of adding The Moth(Führ)er of Elves to the harem, ever since that began to feel like a possible scenario, but the way it was done was honestly kinda brilliant and leaves me with no complaints. I also dig you making it a valid choice for those who don't want it. An easy dungeon is very fun once in a while, when it exists to showcase how strong your party has gotten. Love that the enemies had so much dialogue too. Orilise's quest is probably in the top 3 for content, post-IK War for me. Doing it as an homage to/parody of Princess Trainer was absolutely hilarious. And the usage of Annikath's art, flashing by when Grynyth looked at it, was a pretty great detail, and really highlights how much great art there actually is for this game, at this point. Lynine's quest was kinda "eh" by comparison, but it's really not a big deal. Felt like we've done something similar many times with more detail and higher stakes. But hey, they can't all be bangers. Bug stuff: -I believe it's possible to get yourself soft-locked in the Orilise quest, if you've filled up the crystal with magic for the third time, yet haven't trigered the Grynyth-Riala scene yet. The scene is necessary to get to 9 maximum magic, but it doesn't trigger if the magic is already at 8/8, and you've run out of ways to reduce it. -One of Lilith's repeatable scenes crashes the game. The one where she enters wearing a black coat. -Grynyths "open-minded" stat can go above it's maximum. Not sure how it happened but at the end of the section it was at 13/10 for me. -Grynyth hasn't been added to Yarra's harem menu yet

Lamsey

I agree that it would be hilarious to skip over v69 and go directly to v70; shame on you for selling out. I also see what you did there with Grynyth's character level. Joking aside, my more sincere feedback is going to be a bit of a lengthy epistle. Apologies for wearing out people's scroll wheels. I'm afraid I didn't particularly enjoy Orilise's quest, probably because I'm aware of "trainer" games but I find them contemptible, so I'm not particularly interested in a parody of them. I get that it's twisting the "corruption" trope to invert the usual direction of travel between meaningful/emotional dialogue and meaningless/rapey sexual gratification, but the barely-consensual sex still made me deeply uncomfortable and I found that the rapid pace of Grynyth's transformation stretched my credulity. I don't know what proportion of your player base will be totally unaware of trainer games, but I do wonder how they'll react to this section, not least the joke banner that appears at the start of the quest. It seems to me that one of the intentions of this sequence is to present the player with a choice between two options that they (hopefully) don't really want, i.e. murder or sexual coercion (where weirdly the Mother is sexually coercing both herself and Simon, but it's still creepy nonetheless). As a moral dilemma, it fits with the "Simon, sometimes you're going to have to use your power on people you don't want" theme, but while I can appreciate that intellectually, I still didn't find either resolution particularly satifying. I've briefly tried the murder path, and it seems pretty bare, as if it's little more than an escape route for players who hate the Mother; it's certainly unacceptable for someone who doesn't like the Mother, but isn't willing to kill her in cold blood. That leaves us with the pseudo-rapey path instead, which kinda kicks the game out of the 'fun' zone for me at least. Up until now, Grynyth has always seemed to me like a hate-filled zealot with little in the way of redeeming qualities - even Annah shows more signs of reasonableness and willingness to compromise underneath her hostile stance, and I'd never have considered her a likely harem member. There have been occasional hints of Grynyth being sexually repressed (which I guess goes with the goddess territory), but no other signs that she would so willingly and simply submit to Simon (especially given his total lack of interest in her), and no hints at all that I can remember that she could realistically become a like-minded ally. If I was supposed to have recognised her as a tsundere type before, it passed me by completely. Similarly, I found it weird that Simon softens his attitude towards her so easily without any meaningful conversations or arguments to break down the barriers between them. As an example of the above, I felt that there was a jarring change of tone from Grynyth in her conversation with Riala about comparing succubi and elves; her tone suddenly became very reasonable, amicable, and erudite in comparison with her earlier petulant dismissive haughtiness. This is possibly because I triggered this scene earlier than intended, because I forgot to interact with the sparkle on the bed for a long time due to failing to spot it again because of the white pillow behind it. However, it still illustrates the way that Grynyth flips very quickly from being shouty and superficial to thoughtful and sensitive without enough weighty conversations to justify the change. It's particularly stark in contrast to Ginasta's slow thaw, especially when considering how much more obviously Simon-compatible she is compared to Grynyth. It would feel more believable if Grynyth was still at least somewhat spiky until the postgame. One possible avenue of improvement would be if Simon and others had to spend a bit more time getting through to Grynyth (and vice versa). Simon in particular needs more dialogue, IMO, because he doesn't really share any meaningful breakthrough moments with her over the course of the quest, just a load of gradually-less-empty sex; on that note, I appreciate the craft behind the slow transformation of the repeatable scene, but I didn't even notice it at first since I was just auto-skipping through it because the early parts of the quest just felt like a grind to build up stat points. For example, there could be an argument over some past event where Grynyth took an unreasonable stance, and when Simon tries to explain why he thinks she was wrong, instead of responding purely angrily, she gets upset and reveals that she had a decent ulterior motive that Simon hadn't considered. That would give her a way to soften her stance slightly while still maintaining her aggressive/defensive tone, grant her some credibility in terms of underlying good intentions, and ease the path towards the later reconciliation, thoughtful discussion of moral imperatives, nuanced interpersonal understanding, and eventual titfuckinnnnng. There are also a significant number of harem members who don't factor into the quest at all, even though they all have a shared stake in whether Grynyth is accepted into the group; for example, I feel like Aka should have things to say, given her uncompromising morals. The most obvious example of this is that the mutated succubus incident should be incredibly difficult for the party to forgive - that is a difficult conversation that needs to be had. Anyone who remembers the horror of the unsuccubi should not be able to accept Grynyth's actions without some sort of mitigation. I think the only way out of it would be for Grynyth to reveal that it was an accident and she didn't mean to utterly corrupt the succubus in that way, and for her to reluctantly admit that she tried to make use of her as a weapon in an unsuccessful attempt to mask or bury her shame and guilt over her error. If she showed remorse or horror when confronted with her past actions, it would make it more credible that she wants to make amends and follow a better path. Similarly, the twisted dreams scene is good, both for Qum's unique defensive measures and Carina's steely response, but the latter is lacking a followup. I think it would be better if Carina showed up in Grynyth's prison afterwards; when Grynyth approaches, they could have a tense interaction along the lines of: Carina (frown): "Do I need to say anything?" Grynyth (sad): "No. I'm sorry for what I did, but I realise that a mere apology is insufficient." Carina (neutral): "That's right. I hope you will accept this lesson into your heart, but I'll be watching you either way." Grynyth (eyes closed): "That is fair. I will... endeavour to be better." At the end of the quest, it would be good if there was a group scene with members of the harem cautiously accepting Grynyth into the harem. Keeping a bit of tension there would make it feel less like she's been given too easy a ride. I encountered two blocking bugs preventing me from finishing Orilise's quest. The first was being unable to trigger Riala's lust-draining event due to having too much stored magic, which I believe you have already fixed. The other was that I was left with Frigidity 1 at the end, seemingly with no way to reduce it. I suspect this is because the "Simon Lust Variant" branch grants -2 Frigidity on Yarra's event page 3, but it only grants -1 on event page 2, which doesn't seem deliberate. During the plot section leading to Grynyth's capture, the special chest in the Heartwood seems to have inverted logic. If the party already has the Mother's Pin, then self switch B gets set, which means we get another Mother's Pin. If not, then self switch A gets set, which means we get a useless potion. I assume that this should be the other way around. Speaking of the Heartwood map, my instinct was to avoid fighting any of the Mother's Guard mobs (to the point of reloading if I accidentally bumped into one and began a fight I didn't want and couldn't escape), but it doesn't seem like this is the intended path. The penalties for raiding the chests are clear enough, but it might be an idea to add some dialogue to make it clear that some gentle knocking of heads is expected and won't be penalised. Alternatively, you could add some altered dialogue at the end if the player does avoid all fights, possibly with a small RP bonus to offset the XP opportunity cost. Combat balance in this section seems right. The base Mother's Guards get stomped, the Chosen ones put up a bit of a fight, and the Mother's tower constructs are reasonably powerful without being truly dangerous. All of that seems correct in comparison to the party's power at this point. Lynine's quest is fairly straightforward - I don't have much to say about it. I did get stuck for a while until I happened to check the quest log and realised I had to revisit the Chalice States after recruiting Fheliel's help. That was after fruitlessly scouring a bunch of places looking for additional opportunities for trade discussions, like the Ardford merchant's guild or the Order of Yhilini Thaumaturgy. The quest might benefit from some non-mechanical flavour interactions in these sorts of locations. I only got Janine's quest score counter to 90%, so I guess I'm still missing something. I wasn't able to check if there's anything in the Sylvan region shops, because they're both damaged in my save due to a careless mistake in chapter 4 preventing me from locking Lynine in time to be able to get the best result in the Sylvan section of the Incubus War, so maybe that's why.

Runcible Technician

"Do you hate me that much?" yes. still might chose differently in another playthrough though.

Nice. Anyway, here is apparently a lot of feedback. Lynine's quest seemed fine. I also only got to 90% and without looking at the code, which I try and do after I complete everything, I have no ideas as to what I could be missing. If it is intended that I actually finish at 90%, it could be more clear. (I don't need this cleared up for me right now, I'll look at the code when generating the wiki content after it goes out to the public). Grynyth's dungeon was fine in terms of difficulty. I did stomp the initial area with my optimized save, and while the tower section didn't trouble me, I didn't stomp it as well. However, I play on a TV with my wife and the tower section was awful to look at with the overlay. It must be better played on a regular monitor with your face a normal distance from it, because I can't imagine more people wouldn't complain. I had a similar issue with the Goddess Trainer section with several shiny spots. My wife and I didn't notice any of them until there were like 6 on the screen at the same time. I'm not sure what to recommend for improvements, but if you want me to test anything, just let me know. The decision around Grynyth joining the harem or killing was interesting. - I enjoyed that basically everyone who could possibly give input did. That made it feel like the entire party was taking the choice seriously in a way that I wish had also happened with Lilith. - Unfortunately I do feel this ball is dropped slightly because some people give almost identical responses. From memory, Robin makes a comment about how she doesn't envy Simon for having to make the decision and then Sarai says almost the exact same thing a few people later with no reference to Robin having just said that. I think this would benefit from a quick pass and small alterations to dialogue. I think it's understandable that it seem like there are only so many ways to word the same thoughts, but if a bunch of people are going to agree in the same way, maybe have them all go in a row and reference that they agree with X person. - The decision itself felt bad and I didn't like having to make it. If you were trying to get me to feel how I imagine Simon would, mission accomplished. I think these sorts of decisions are good to have in the game as another way of respecting that your decisions matter. Simon having to use his power in a way he didn't want to work towards his goals was also good. - Having played through both paths, I worry that the decision to kill her will be similar to the decision to kill The Impaler because having eventually found Orilise's trainer section, it is pretty clearly the intended choice is to keep her alive. - I wasn't as happy with this though, because I think killing her is a legitimate response to everything that has happened in the game. I did feel like some dialogue leading up to the confrontation with her was softening her up for players who dislike her, like me, to confirm my bias. Then the bit with the plant-unsuccubus is horrifying and the fact that it is largely glossed over is actually a huge mistake IMO. I cannot imagine that people who witnessed the horrors of unsuccubi in the 3AW wouldn't have a stronger reaction and I don't believe it came up even once when everyone was giving input on whether or not to kill her. Honestly I feel like it should either not be there at all or it needs serious attention. - Orilise says "I will never ask you for anything ever again" in reference to how she wants Grynyth killed. If after all of the debate, you don't kill her, she says "Tch." and nothing else. I did not immediately find the Goddess Trainer section and was legitimately disappointed by the fact that basically it seemed like there were no consequences with her. I'm not looking for some sort of huge blowout or to lose her as a harem member or anything, but this didn't feel like a sufficient response for something so important to her. I feel like Simon needs to have a conversation with her, probably immediately, possibly before he has sex with Grynyth. You can maybe also have this conversation end with Orilise making a comment about making her a useful harem member which can direct the player to look in the HQ courtyard for her. - I otherwise largely agree with Lamsey's thoughts above. The Goddess Trainer section did make me burst out laughing though. While it might be a dated reference, I literally laughed for so long I put the keyboard down and my wife had to wait for me to breathe to ask why the random font/banner/music killed me out of nowhere. I did unfortunately get stuck in this section twice. Starting initially, I got stuck right away at 5/6 magic for way longer than I imagine would be intended, and then I got stuck again at 8 out of I assume 9 magic. Having re-read my message, I am slightly worried that I might be coming across as angrier or similar than intended. I only intend to provide feedback. I'm not actually upset or anything. Hopefully I'm not coming across poorly. Your work is appreciated, and the update itself is full of great content. Anyway, Grynyth being level 69 is silly fun and I'm here for it. Nice.

werewindle

Recruiting Grynyth seems to ignore RP lock. From a cursory check... Aka -3, Janine -3, Carina -5, Sarai -3, Altina -5, Varia -5, Dari -2, Orilise -5, Wynn -2, Uyae -5, Elleani -5, Fheliel -2. All despite being RP locked. Ginasta -5 is the same, I assume, but I don't have her locked. Also ouch, that will hurt, rip Ginasta lock. Also it'd be nice to have some instructions on what to do to secure Darghelon/Gheldaron support in the Lynine quest. I liked the update so far, now on to the trainer section...

Ben

Great update! Specially wanted to mention that I loved more Fheliel stuff cause she's a favorite of mine.

WaxerRed

After thinking a bit more on the update, I think there is an aspect that still somewhat bothers me about The Mother's joining to the harem. Her training is all about convincing her to accept Simon…with no effort on her part to make herself remotely acceptable to Simon. Perhaps the training arc really did make her a better person, but that doesn’t wash away the past. She tortured a succubus into a monster. She left her own dedicated loyal follower to be rape-bait for Simon to fuck in an effort to earn herself a few extra minutes of time. She told her followers to fight Simon to the death, but surrendered without a fight when he came to her. She was a terrible monster of a ruler who would have gotten the elves killed if her enemies were even half as terrible as she made them out to be. I don’t think she remotely earned that cuddle time with Simon! It’s like letting bygone be bygones with the Fucklord after the Fucklord learned to suck really good cock. I think the Mother needs to put more effort on her side to be someone Simon wants touching him out of more then necessity for rituals. I think it's a disservice to Simon's character otherwise. Is his only need for attraction a girl being wet for him? Does he not feel any disgust for the woman who tortured POWs and carelessly tossed aside her own followers in selfish whims? I'm not sure what can be done to fix this though, except perhaps an added stat to her training to lower Simon's hate for her. Conversations that help bridge the gap between there mutual distaste for one another. Perhaps she can speak a bit more of how she came to her current mindset. Explaining that her hatred of incubus kings and sex comes from watching the Incubus Emperor rape half a continent of elves to death would at least go a small way to explain her actions. But beyond that she needs to take actual accounting for her terrible leadership and guidance. Maybe so far as to abdicate her position of Goddess of Elves to Orsile or Lynine and secluding herself to the Harem until she learns some actual leadership characteristics. Don't get me wrong, I still very much enjoyed her training section but it just feels like her horrific actions earlier in the update are brushed aside.

Altanius

I'll try to be succinct with my novel, since it looks like there's already a lot of reading to be done here. :D I think for the Mother choice the problem (at least in my observation) is that this update takes her in the wrong direction. While I don't have a scientific survey to back me up the 'Let's kill The Mother' crowd has always been a pretty notable (and vocal) faction in the community. In that context the decision to spare or claim the mother was always going to be one that led to debate. This update doubles down on that by basically taking at least some of what had previously only been bark for the Mother and makes it bite while adding in a couple of war crimes for good measure. Indeed by the end of this segment The Mother has almost no redeeming features. She's created unsuccubi (arguably the worst crime of the 3AW) and shown that despite her claims of wanting to protect the elves, she's perfectly happy to sacrifice them to Simon for her own ends, so even her claims of wanting to protect her children fall a bit flat. It had been my theory in the past that The Mother has been traumatized by the IK's much like her sisters, the difference being that they chose flight (going into hiding in the tower) and the Mother chose fight. In that way she winds up as something of a pitiable figure. Yes, she's done (or at least threatened) terrible things, but ultimately like Ivala and the others all she's trying to do is avoid becoming a toy to the next IK who comes along. Especially with the destruction of the western kingdoms, I think there's room to show she's a woman who's been through a lot and is trying to deal with it. In an unhealthy way, yes, but as best she can never the less. It may also be worth it to spend a bit more time emphasizing that some of the elven fears (like Simon raping the all female squad they sent out) aren't valid fears for him, but with virtually any other IK they probably would be. As a p.s., Aside I recognize that at least part of the Mother's unlikability is in service to the Goddess trainer segment, and I think there is room for her to be personally unlikable, without being as reprehensible as she currently comes across.

Crashed to desktop doing affection sex with Lilith. It happens randomly and generally before any text appears (after picking "sex"), so I'm not sure if it is just one scene or more than one. "Unable to find file: check the debug console for more information"

DukeLeto7

OK. Got a delayed bug report from 0.68.2 that I've ignored since then because I just could not face dealing with Riala's Research menu again. I get the impression you're fed up with it too. The basic problem is that Riala's Ch5 research dialogue tree needs to be fixed in the same way her Ch 4 research dialogue tree was fixed. This means the Headquarters B1 (007,021) Page 4 conditional containing: "I'm afraid we're busy improving our Tower defenses and we don't have time for new research now." ... needs to have the big nested conditional in Page 3 replicated for it, so that It checks that switches 2582-2585 and 2590-2592 are all off before giving you the dialogue, along with 4081 Post-Gathering also being off so it only fires before the first Ch5 iterate event. The conditional also needs to be moved into the top level of the conditional chain above it in the else condition for getting sent to the Research map, because this is somehow causing the dialogue to trigger after the party is transported to the projection. (Don't ask me how.) Please let me know if you need this explained more clearly.

Rachnera

A bit of a focus on the technical side in between two debates about the Mother's choice: The menu remained disabled after completing the Goddess Trainer segment. Failed to defeat racism (1 point left) but could move on. Dunno if missed something or expected. Might be on purpose, but the RP loss from the Mother's choice bypass locking. For example, if you speak to Elleani just after that sequence, she's shown at 97. The game sometimes crashes when talking to Lilith at the base, as reported earlier. Also: I guess you plan to remove the fix NPC at Wendis' new old home eventually? Because it made me think than a one time diegetic option to transform any of the Liquid Sex/Crystal of Stability/Crystallized Divinity/Arcane Formation into one another would actually be pretty cool. You've hinted several times we're supposed to not have enough components to do everything, so that would give the player more options without upsetting balance. While removing one minor item from your TODO list, as you wouldn't need to erase that event at some point in the future. I realized it wouldn't be hard to add the option to filter over illustrated scenes only in the gallery, so here's the code for that if you wish to add that option: https://github.com/Rachnera/tls-gallery-filter/commit/260529b5659add14dc4e3a8c942be07de08f7551 It's plugged to the same boolean as the one checked when displaying the brush next to scene names for easier disabling once all scenes will be illustrated and this won't be needed anymore.

lostone2

Sorry for the non-sequitur, but... After the end of Orilise's Quest, where I can I find the Mother?

Fulminato

Technical report: 1. both the mother pin items (185 and 198) are identical in stats and status immunity, i don't think this right 2. Bottom right bed in hilstara room in goddess trainer it's unlock if Self-righteousness it's >= 7 i thin should be < 7 3. The spark unlocking the Observed Succubi switch (event coordinate 16,12) can be used with lust >= 1 but reduce lust by 3 without checking if the lust variable become negative and reset it if its the case. and i see in other place (eg yarra) you make that check 4. I think Lynine Scene in the Church should need to check if simon had recovered or not. because it isn't a requisite to start the quest itself

Jeffrey Lebowski

EDIT: I wasn't going to leave a "nice" but I just noticed that I am actually the 69th comment so now I am legally obligated to say "nice." So... nice Ok, late to the party providing feedback for this one. Overall, I really liked the story beats provided in this one, and was surprised by the direction it took. I'll admit that I truly didn't expect recruiting Grynyth to be in the cards at all, but think it was executed pretty well. I thought it was clever that to truly get to Orilise's Request, you had to deny following through with Orilise's request. I think it does appropriately address Orilise's tendency to be one of the most vindictive team members in a growth-focused way. I'll admit when the music hit when first starting the Trainer section, I got a helluva flashback! Certainly a dated reference at this point, but it definitely hit me. I really don't like "trainer" games due to the fetishized cruelty and objectification, but I found the whole quest engaging, an interesting parody that fit Grynyth's extremely weird personality, and I just think having a stat for straight up "Racism" extremely funny! I did encounter some bugs that stopped me from finishing the quest without save editing. I was unable to get the Research + L switch to flip and was stuck on 8 Maximum Magic, thus preventing me from finishing the Riala events. I also have some criticism for the Heartwood section. The game assumes that you will defreat all the Mother's Guard at the Heartwood since there are conversations after each fight and when you get to the area boss, she explicitly says you have defeated all the Mother's Guard. However, at the beginning of the section, Simon says that we should work to avoid harming the Guard. While I now see this was referring to the nonlethal combat, the last time we were told to avoid harming the Mother's Guard was during the Erosian War, and the solution there was to avoid combat entirely in order to aid negotiations. I thought this was a callback to that and ran through the section while avoiding all roaming guards (which is definitely possible). If this isn't an expected way to play through the section, I would recommend revising the dialogue to make it more clear that fighting the Guard is an acceptable action. Other than that, with the revelation that Grynyth is one of the last harem members, this update did raise a question for me. Is there any more content planned for Ulrissa? So far, my interpretation of her character was as someone who appears to be (and thinks she is) a wise sage who is a more important part of the word than Simon or any of the others because of her centrist righteousness, but who ultimately is almost completely powerless, useless, and motivationless. The boons she offers are occasionally good, but not super worldshaking all things considered, she believed Tanurak was a primary threat when he was ultimately a sideshow, and then she didn't even really play any role in taking him down since Hester took care of that. She stayed inactive until all her advantages eroded and now she relies on the charity of someone she regularly disparages almost as much as Ginasta. I think from that perspective she is a rather fascinating character, but has so far not been explored very deeply or had any sort of growth or arc. Is there any more in store for her story or is this just all she is going to be?
