EDIT: Version 0.70.1 now available!

- The boss in Sarai's quest has been toned down, so please try again if you found it frustrating the first time.

- Several tweaks to Riala's quest mechanics, which should make clearing everything possible for new saves.

- The usual bugfixing and polishing.

ORIGINAL POST

New build of TLS! Everything is rolling along smoothly except for the new version of Patreon's posting system being worse. But they changed the logo into a little lump, and that's what's important.

The heart of this update was tested a little while ago, it should be good. Maybe in an ideal world I would have given this another week to put more time into the combat, but I feel like I've been flogging my brain against it for too long anyway. There are some unique fights but I just don't have it in me to run through and test balance further. Some enemy could have a typo'd stat or some ability that doesn't work or something. Or worst of all, one of the battle events could have broken and the whole update is borked. -_-

I dunno, guys, I'm doing my best. In an ideal world I would take time off working intensely on something and come back to it to analyze fresh, but that's not compatible with a rapid release schedule. I am adrift in a creative fever dream and I have no idea how stable this update actually is, but I am pretty sure you guys will like all the character interactions.

Sorry to hear this update took a lot out of you. Always know that your hard work and dedication are appreciated by us all. And an inspiration as well! Some bugs to report: This jump can be made, before the crystal on the other side is taken away. https://imgur.com/a/sGDkOyp This gap can't be jumped over, on either side. However, moving one to the left lets you jump over. https://imgur.com/a/Prv4UC3 Even if Rialia is out of energy, this statue will disappear when interacting with it. https://imgur.com/a/vuK1k5k Same sort of deal, gap can't be jumped over on the spots Simon is standing on. But moving down a tile can lets you cross. https://imgur.com/a/ldcHYjo The final fight against the painting has the wrong fight trigger. It is actually the starting fight of the dungeon. With Aka's line of "Wait a minute, are those elemental's little naked women?" I was kicked out of the dungeon without being able to access the chest behind the painting. Not sure if that's a bug, or I missed how to get it. Overall I very fun dungeon! I liked the interactions as always!

Enjoyed the update as always. And fast development time, feels like 0.69 was barely yesterday. Some thoughts: Sarai's quest was very interesting, as all topics of religion in this game usually are, and I loved the dialogue with the High Priestesses and Godesses. Some more understanding of Ulrissas worldview was also a highlight, as was seeing further consequences of Grynyth's "training program" and Annah's partnership. I love reading Tertias dialogue. There really isn't a character like her in all the fiction I've consumed over the years. Faced something of a wall at the end though, the final boss is absolutely *brutal*. That thing hits for 5000-6000 damage on every character, every turn, and if there is an easy way to cheese it, I certainly missed it. I struggled my way through with just about the only characters bulky enough to handle that things attacks without risk of getting downed: Simon and Carina on healing duty, while Hilstara and Ginasta veeery slowly grinded down the enourmous health bar. And that is with a party, which have mostly reached the level cap now, decked out on endgame gear. I can scarcily imagine what this enemy would do to someone fresh out of the IW, doing this mission as one of the first, unless there is something about the boss' mechanics I am missing. Riala's quest was also great, especially the banter and commentary on a certain King's... hobbies. My deepest sympathies for having to come up with that number of insane fetishes. From a gameplay perspective I must admit I got pretty lost. I failed to find any consistent cause and effect between which fetishes I cleared, which foes spawned and what stuck around on my next attempt. By the end I was just mindlessly clearing all the objects on the map without using my brain in the slightest, finishing in 11 attempts. Whether you want to add more tips or leave it as is is up to you. Maybe it lacking in explaination or maybe my results suffered from the fact that I played the update sleep-deprived at 1am. Speaking of which, I am going to bed. Again, great update!

Thanks for the update! My wife and I enjoyed ourselves as we always do. Some quick feedback before I dive into RPGM later and maybe provide more feedback. The damage from Sarai's boss is extremely high even through buffs. Most of the people I tried do not live through it with one buff from Carina. Aka not being able to consistently debuff ATK/MAG and also dying immediately had me thinking that it wasn't worth trying, even with a Sublime Ring increasing her Max HP. My party should have the maximum experience. I did end up winning eventually, with Simon, Varia, Uyae, and Carina. Varia Encouraged herself twice and keeps this up and literally all three of the others heal the entire time, with Carina also buffing. This took like 20-30 turns because I only felt safe having Varia attack when everyone had a certain amount of HP. I think this strategy only worked because Varia also had her Pressurized Heart which gives +1000 Max HP. I would have needed a Sublime Ring or something else that gives Max HP otherwise. Riala's dungeon was cool but I also ended up just slamming my head through it like DankPotatoes did and we did it in 9 tries. I also did not get the chest above the portrait, and we couldn't clear one of the remaining obstacles even though it didn't hinder us. I thought we might have missed something somehow so we redid the dungeon one more time leaving a different item as the final one but with the same result of being off by one + the portrait. Riala makes a comment about expecting the tower monsters to be difficult but I found the fights to be particularly easy. Varia's Request had tougher monsters that I think would be good to reference.

Riala's quest was entertaining - I enjoyed all the banter and callbacks. It took me a while to realise it wasn't a sequencing puzzle maze, but instead a case of building up stamina for later runs. It might be clearer if all the big barriers disappeared permanently, including the one near the start, while the little barriers still regenerated each cycle. It irked me a little that it didn't seem to be possible to get to 100% clearance before taking out the portrait - this may tie up completionists for a bit because they think they're missing something. It might be an idea to change Riala's "I'm exhausted" line when the player reaches the maximum possible clearance, to give a hint that the player shouldn't bang their head against the wall trying to get rid of everything. Sarai's quest was fairly uneventful, but I guess it'd be more interesting to the theologically inclined. Personally I find polytheistic religions more compelling for the simple reason that they make for better storytelling, so I enjoyed those aspects of the discussions more than Sarai's desire for a totally ineffable supreme being. During Riala's quest, it would make thematic sense if retreating to recover restored the party's HP/MP, even if it's not really necessary mechanics-wise. During Sarai's quest, I tried to look for Herin, but I couldn't find her. Not sure if she counts as a High Priestess yet, since she hasn't formally replaced Hester, but I'd have thought that Sarai might want to sound her out as much as the likes of Yelarel. I agree with the others that Sarai's quest boss hits too hard. I tuned it down to 500 ATK/MAT and it was manageable; only then did anyone live long enough for me to realise that it had the rotating elemental weaknesses. Riala's quest was on the easy side combat-wise, but I'm OK with that, since the real battle is against the perversions of the Incubus King Of The Entire World And Also The Other Stupid Continents. I haven't gone back and tested the retroactive changes to past quests. Maybe later.

Yo Sierra. Can't speak for anyone else, but if you're getting burned out better to take a little break and come back at it fresh than to force it... it's always annoying to look back and see what ya could've done better except you were rushing. A couple of extra weeks is a drop in the bucket compared to the overall picture, no? I certainly won't hold your feet to the fire over it. Thanks as always for all your hard work.

Innocuous

Hey, trying to catch up on some of the updates, had a good time with this one. Didn't notice anything in terms of bugs that hasn't already been reported. Although I did notice that one of Lilith's headquarters dialogues is now a (fake out) error message and I don't remember that being there before and I like it. Sarai's quest was okay, I do like the succinct nature of it given the total number of side quests that are part of the pre-end game. I wonder if there would be anyone else who could contribute a conversation to this section. Sarai talks to religious leaders and goddesses, and there's speculation on how 'normal' people might react or be reacting to world events, but does Sarai actually talk to any of those 'normal' people about this? I would assume the answer is yes but we just don't see it, although I wonder if it would be an interesting conversation to have the player see as well. I'll be honest, I didn't have a problem with the boss at the end of Sarai's section. Mostly maxed party, I used Simon/Aka/Carina/Robin because it was just my party at the time, Aka debuffed on the first round, Carina defense buffed. Second round, Aka poisons the boss, Carina buffs again, Simon and Robin heal, then just use heals/buffs/debuffs the rest of the fight while the poison works. I may have lucked into a good strategy, because I've done it thrice now and never died to the boss. Riala's section was pretty good, falling into a type of resolution that I didn't realize that I wanted. However, the mechanic of going in and out of the dungeon over and over feels a bit arbitrary and I'm not sure I understood it. Is Riala growing stronger on each entrance, or do the interactables have a limited number before they go away forever, or what? If it's the first one maybe a counter showing Riala's tolerance each time you enter the dungeon, or something like that IDK. I also spent an embarrassingly long time thinking that it was a dungeon of the Lustlord, not the Incubus Emperor. Like, I even got to the picture of the Incubus Emperor and looked at it and it didn't register that I wasn't in a dungeon of the Lustlord. Because I spent that time thinking the posthumous characterization of the Lustlord was strange and out of character before I realized I was thinking of the wrong character and actually it's a perfect encapsulation of the Incubus Emperor. It seems like the side-questing is nearly done at this point, if I'm correct there's only Megail/Robin/Orcent/Varia left (and the Wilds). That's very exciting. As a final question, I believe you've said in the past that once the core content is complete that you intend to go back and rebalance/tweak things throughout the game. Do you have a list of things in mind that you're looking to change? And/or are you open to community feedback?

70.1 bug reports. This spot can be jumped over with the statue in the way. https://imgur.com/a/N86mJN9 Also I audibly uttered, "What the fuck..." when that last boss battle came up. I had nearly forgotten what his last words were. Seems like he already had that picture of his own face ready.

Last Bug Report for Sarai's quest! Herin has a conditional branch based on if purity standards are still in place or removed. If Standards are removed she has the line "Oh yes! You've supported me ever since you supported my proposal back in Gawnfall." (And then she gives more points) However, back in Gawnfall Herin wasn't the one who wanted the standards removed, it was Kaskia's idea. Herin wanted to keep the standards, but allow more responsibilities to lay priestesses. I might suggest just removing this conditional all together. Because technically speaking, it is possible for players to have Sarai publicly support Herin's proposal in front of the High Priestesses, but still have standards removed due to Simon's background actions. Plus I feel like Herin would support Sarai so long as she felt like it was right, not base her support off some past favor. The boss was easier, and I actually beat them using the rotating elemental defense this time, which was neat!
