Being selfish is usually discouraged in society, it's even considered a sin. But when salvos's thought process is always inherently selfish, it somehow just seems right. Like it's healthy and feels true to herself. Maybe I'm just resonating weirdly with it but I wish I could be like that

I expected more of a catharsis from him, so this feels incomplete. For instance, for him to look at himself, what kind of a person he had to become to be "a useful tool" for Regnorex - a cruel, sneering bastard who kills and tortures others for fun because he's bored; he would have thought about it from the perspective of what Ivory would have thought, how she would have been disappointed to see her Basil turn into that. That would've been emotionally torturous for him, not something that can be just glossed over.

This is going to be interesting. First she brought home two death eaters. Now she'll bring home Hartia the Unseelie Lord. When she brings home the Beast, I guess everybody will either be completely used to that stuff by that point, or they will jump into a lake of molten lava screaming. :)

"proffered a hand" -> "offered a hand"; proffer is not proper for offering a hand, it has a very specific nuance in English and is sort of a weird/formal way to give someone documents or materials (ie presenting for them to take possession). Most people won't even use the word proffer at all, even in the correct context. @MelasD
