The first crack of bone echoes through our bedroom, a grotesque melody. His spine arcs, skin turning like overripe fruit, becoming steel-gray hide. I clutch the bedsheet—my fingers, stiffening, nails thickening into dull stubs. The transformation claws through me, relentless.

He bellows, a sound that vibrates in my newly fused molars. His shoulders swell, a mountain range erupting, and when he turns, his eyes are twin coals. My knees buckle, not from pain, but instinct. The carpet grates against my hardening kneecaps as I lower myself, a supplicant before a cathedral of muscle and horn.

His breath is hot, damp, a monsoon downpour. A massive head lowers; his snout—ridged, brutal—brushes my jaw. I flinch as my own face reshapes, cartilage creeping outward, nostrils flaring wide. His hand, huge but still human, clasps my emerging snout, possessive. The pressure is intense.

“Mine,” he growls, the word guttural, distorted by the cavern of his throat. My pulse hammers where his grip bites into tender keratin. I  whimper —a sound neither human nor beast, but something raw between.
