In a lively Irish pub on March 16th, Fiona O’Connor leaned against the bar, sipping her pint, her red hair glowing under the soft lights. She’d turned 21 a few days ago, full of fire, unaware of the family curse that had shadowed her lineage for generations. Her parents had passed when she was just a kid—too young for them to sit her down and spill the strange truth they’d planned to share when she was older. So, there she was, laughing with friends, her green shirt tucked into a short skirt, the pub alive with early St. Patrick’s Day buzz.

Then, as the clock struck midnight, a weird heat crawled up her spine. Her green eyes widened as sharp nubs pushed through her scalp, curling into horns. She staggered back, her stool scraping the floor, while her legs bulked up, orange and white fur sprouting in rough patches along her arms and thighs. Her nose puffed out into a wide, pink snout, wet and twitching, and her ears stretched, poking out from her hair. A sudden tug tore through her skirt as a tail flicked out, swishing behind her. Her shirt strained at the shoulders, but she held onto herself—half-human, half-beast, her red hair spilling over a face now edged with fur.

The crowd froze, drinks mid-air. Then a sloshed guy hollered, “That’s the wildest St. Paddy’s opener I’ve ever seen!” The place broke into chaos—laughter, cheers, phones flashing, everyone thinking it was a stunt. Fiona froze, letting out a shaky half-moo, her pink snout sniffing the air, while the crowd raised their glasses.
