Amaz2k12 asked me how I do my lips after I posted the images and video about doing custom makeup for your models. I thought about it for a couple of days, and here is a set of images and a video that are all about that very topic! :)

Image set is attached for Stacked Patrons, and a 40 minute video is in the Bulging Bazooms archive.

Oh, thank you so much for the recommendation, the video you made for me, and of course, your response in the shared chat was very helpful. The video, however, was absolutely outstanding, as it allowed me to compare our approaches in detail. I apologize for only getting back to you fully now. You’ve likely heard in the media about the government chaos here in Germany. Since I'm affected by it, albeit in a small way, I've had an extremely hectic past couple of days, filled with calls and appointments, so this was my first chance to watch your video in full. Here’s my situation: I usually use two different LIEs for full DSL lips on my characters, and I rarely use the built-in lip textures that come with each character. This is mostly because the default makeup often doesn’t fit the specific “bimbo” look I’m going for - it just lacks that certain something. The issue I have with my LIE function is that it seems to only cover about half of the full lips, which leaves the remaining 50% without lipstick, resulting in a strange look. (I use LIE Makeup Sets 1–3 for Gen 3–8.) I have to admit, I’d never thought of using nail polish color to cover the lips! But I love that idea. The nail colors often perfectly represent the “bimbo” look, especially with glitter or metallic flake effects, so I’ll definitely give this option a try. Thanks, Phoeny! 😊 Another thing I’ve noticed: since DAZ Studio version 4.23, the texture overlay feature seems to have a bug that also affects version 4.22. It often works just fine, but with certain figures and props, the alignment gets off, and you have to adjust it manually. For example, I’ve had this bug frequently when using tan options or when scripts fail to correct the shell, so manual adjustment is required. I suspect this may be a core DAZ Studio functionality issue rather than a version-specific bug.

I only use LIE when I absolutely have to because it slows my system down quite a lot. Also, you know you can just take the LIE texture and add it to the actual Face or Lip texture in a 2D editing program? Then you get the same texture with none of LIE's slow-down effect. It's the best of both worlds! It would also let you adjust the alignment and/or size. You are very, very welcome! I really enjoyed doing that and it gave me a subject to talk about. I didn't have any great ideas of my own, so keep them coming! No need to apologize either. I'm glad that you found it helpful or informative in any way. That makes me really happy. I don't use overlays much, so I don't think I have had any issues with it? I am not sure though. I hope you are OK. I heard about the Germany thing, but I don't know enough to really understand what it means. Other than the world continues to be in turmoil... My answer to which is to go bury myself in cleavage! :D
