Just letting you know.

I imagine that most of you are already aware of the recent attack on NSFW content on Steam and Itchio by Visa and Mastercard. But just in case you aren't, then I thought I would post this.

Visa and Master Card forced both Steam and Itchio to remove thousands of games from their libraries recently. Both sites also updated their Terms of Service just to permit such removals. The new terms are incredibly vague, enabling them to remove just about anything for the flimsiest of reasons.

Some people are fighting back, and I certainly signed one of the online petitions to stop this astounding overreach by payment processors. However, that is not why I am posting.

If they have successfully gone after games, then you can be sure that they are coming after us next.

I am just getting so tired of all of this. Sigh...

Yeah, I heard about this a few days ago. It's really sickening :/

I've heard about this as well. All of this nonsense has been promulgated by a group called Collective Shout out of Australia.

Mr. Phoenyxx

Yep! They got a whole 1,000 signatures! And apparently that is enough to ruin the lives of the other 8 billion people that live on the planet. :/

I've been hearing some rumors regarding Visa and MasterCard trying to get Patreon to bend the knee regarding adult content. So much case law regarding adult content being an exercise of free speech.

iff you are from europe, you can mail your european rep for your country. Just keep it civil, because politicians...

Mr. Phoenyxx

We really do need more civil discourse on these topics. Good advice! :)

Mr. Phoenyxx

Most of the changes to Patreon's ToS over the last two years is due to Visa and MC.

I know japanese politicians (because mainstream manga is also under attack) are looking into it, In the usa there is also rumbling about regulating the payment providers. more presure on the providers will hopefully help

What is the fucking 1000 people want to achieve by ruin the other 8 billion people's day

Mr. Phoenyxx

Well they think they're helping and making the world a better place.

Mr. Phoenyxx

Yes, I hope that some of this pressure reins them in. I really feel like they are far over-reaching their authority to dictate to other companies what content they can and can't sell or promote.
