CES is upon us, which can mean only one thing: new announcements for a bunch of trash no one wants or needs! Oh, wait, there are also new graphics cards and handheld gaming machines getting announced, too. So three things! Honestly, that’s better than CES has sounded in years, let’s talk about it. Also: my Game of the Year for 2024, the Switch 2 leaks, your emails, and much more!

Hey Jeff love the show. Just want to comment that I don’t fully get your criticism of enthusiast level graphics cards, in this case the 4090 and 5090. You seem like the type of person/gamer that would be satisfied with a mid or even high tier card, but bought the enthusiast card because you’re a professional games critic/analyst. Enthusiast products are always for that small percentage of people who want to be on the cutting edge, even when that level of power isn’t always needed. I’m not sure why you would be analyzing enthusiast card impact from the perspective of the average player by considering what card the avg player uses via the Steam hardware survey. Obviously the data will be skewed when you’ve got games like Stardew Valley amongst the top games on Steam. It would make more sense to measure what the most popular card was amongst players of a cohort of graphically demanding games. Anyways, I’m not saying all of this to defend the 4090 like a fanboy or anything, I just think you sound out of touch because you’re not able to reconcile Jeff the gamer and Jeff the professional on this particular topic. Thanks!

UFO 50 is a much more notable and memorable release. Years from now Indiana jones is probably largely forgotten, but UFO 50 will be remembered for being a much more unique and notable release.

His criticisms to me seemed more like even as an enthusiast, whats the draw? Obviously people who just buy every card because they have too much money and will buy the latest and greatest without a thought will buy it, but for people who DO want a high end card but aren't completely blind, whats the sales pitch? It kinda seems like the cards don't have one other than "its the new card!" My buddy has good enough income that he was interested in these new cards, but he seemed pretty disappointed by their showing. They just waffled about AI for an hour

Pauline functionally is a new character. Obviously she technically isn't, but as far as a Nintendo fan born in the last 30 years would be concerned, she is

The Ghost in the Shell F2P shooter was pretty alright.

I'm one of those weirdos living in the past on the Steam survey. My PC has a 1060 and pushes 2560x1080 (ultrawide). I'm primarily a PC and Steam Deck user, but I just don't care about the latest and greatest graphics (I also play my PS4 once in a while). I care more about innovative gameplay and/or storytelling. Or maybe my eyes are just bad and I can't appreciate 4k etc. 😆

I finally played Indiana Jones, the AI is as dumb as bricks! It's not fun to outsmart enemies who aren't as intelligent as a flock of birds, IMO.

I'm a performance over graphics guy myself. I prefer high frame rates.
