This week I'm catching up on email and talking about what to buy if you're going to Japan, the curse of collecting video games, the dirtbags that maintained your laundromat arcade machines when you were a kid, and more.

The thing I remember being the most "You Can Go There" is Project Ego/Fable when reading about it the first time

I was wondering if you still had that Tommy February6 poster! I saw her first song on HEYx3 MUSIC CHAMP in Seattle. I think she sang with a bunch of cheerleaders and it sounded cool but I was just dumbfounded. Yakuza 3 got me into Matsuya beef bowls and drinking. Japan has such great drinks (I liked the Welch’s grape juice with aloe blobs). There’s a bottle of Yamazaki just sitting in the gas station near my work; it’s $200 though…

I really loved this episode dedicated to emails! It’s arguably my favorite part of the show. Jeff, would you consider doing this more often to catch up on your email backlog? If so, I’m here for it!

A dude on Reddit the other day posted a pic of his collection of 275 Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus games. Every time he goes to GameStop he buys all their Wii Fit copies. THAT is nuts. Also kinda hilarious. I’m in a bit of a rabbit hole since coming back from Japan with a pile of Xbox 360 and Saturn games. I already have a Saturn that can play imports but all the 360 games, there was no info anywhere about if they were region free or not. I have several region free 360 games already. Anyway, these turned out to be region locked… so a Japanese Xbox 360 just got delivered by DHL a couple days ago. Time to lock up the credit cards and delete them from my phone wallet.

I used to be a huge physical game collector in the 2000’s and 2010’s, back when stuff was still affordable. I came to a realisation about 10 years ago that I simply couldn’t keep going because it was getting very expensive and I no longer had the space. I’ve been slowly and carefully pruning my collection ever since. I’ve reduced it down to about half of what it used to be but now it’s starting to get tough. I’ve become very attached to most of what I have left so I’ve put off selling any more for a couple of years. But I know at some point I’ll have pull the trigger and sell about half of what I still have. I’m thinking I’ll sell off my 360 and PS3 stuff next. Of the games I still have it’s probably the stuff I’m least attached to. Then maybe the PS2 games after that. No matter what I’m keeping my Saturn stuff.
