Let's talk about this stuff one more time as the new Nintendo thing works its way around the world.
Also hey, am I going crazy or does it feel like there's just not a ton of editorial coverage of anything right now? Like a bunch of outlets in the US got hardware this morning and the only one I see doing anything with it is Game Informer? Kinda Funny, I think, did an unboxing but they aren't live? I'm not talking shit about anyone, but man, it feels like everyone would've just hit the ground running and started buying and streaming everything as soon as the thing got delivered... right?
I guess it's a matter of priorities, a lot of folks are getting ready for Summer Game Fest, and some people have already traveled down to LA for this weekend's events. And there's the Sony thing today, which I will probably try to watch later since I can't be there live.
Twitch streams for Mario Kart seem a little subdued, too. People in chat earlier were saying that Mario Kart just isn't a big "streamer" game, but wouldn't people want to see the game anyway? I think a couple of people that Nintendo sent consoles to are streaming, and of course there are people in other parts of the world live, as well, since the Switch 2 is already out there.
It all just continues to feel very off to me. Like this is the new frickin' Nintendo console. Even if Mario Kart is the only big new thing, I would think that people would be going live? Is there no one left to just say "fuck it, turn these cameras on and let's start buying and downloading everything we can?" IGN's top story is selling tickets to an upcoming event and their second slot is devoted to the PlayStation State of Play. GameSpot's top two slots are the State of Play and Madden. I don't get it, man.
