Want to watch me watching the PlayStation State of Play? Naturally, of course you do! Here it is, online, ready for you. Now!

This show perhaps not their best, in terms of new announcements. Makes you wonder what they've got planned for the rest of the year, first-party-wise. I suppose they could be taking the approach of going super-light this holiday since GTA6 will probably suck up a lot of time. I'm never sure if I agree with that approach, but considering they're probably playing the hand they've been dealt, having a light holiday in the year that GTA6 ships is probably not the worst possible outcome.

Hey, are you excited about this God of War game? The live chat was pretty down on it and I've never been much of a God of War guy to begin with, so I'm not sure I have the perspective to know how much people might want this game in the first place. I will say that I think they did the game a disservice with the long, slow, QTE-filled demo.

I cannot wait to fly Wolverine in Ace Combat 8

I think Sony’s in a weird spot where “solid but unspectacular” State of Plays end up feeling worse than they probably are because people are waiting for that one huge first-party reveal. It does kinda feel like they’re holding cards close to the chest right now. As for God of War, I think there’s definitely an audience for it, but I agree the demo didn’t really sell it. Long scripted walks and QTE-heavy sequences are rough in a showcase format because they make the game look less interactive than it probably is. If you already weren’t a God of War person, I can totally see why that presentation would bounce off you. The live chat negativity also feels partly like “show fatigue” at this point people want surprises more than competence.

I bounced right off God of War 2018, but I'd at least entertain the possibility that a game featuring an angry lady with a sword and a talking cube is something I'd enjoy more than a game with an angry dude and his dipshit son.

As a big fan of both the current mainline Gods of war games AND Deborah Ann Woll; super god damned pumped about it!
