Well, we’ve got two news stories discussing new hardware, so it must be that weird mid-point in the cycle. Let’s discuss Nintendo’s potential Switch 2 and the PlayStation 5 Pro. We’ll also talk about Disney Illusion Island, Ratchet & Clank on PC, Remnant 2’s hidden class, and more!

Shit man it hasn't even been 3 years yet. WAY too soon for mid-cycle. Not that Jeff's wrong, but that's how fucked up things are. My amateur take after listening to Jeff for 15 years: COVID fucked a lot of things up (bet you didn't know that!) and the attach rate on the new consoles must not be where they need it to be at this stage of the lifecycle. So in order to drum up new console sales and ensure this generation is not a financial failure, there will be a "post-covid" hardware revision soon and a price drop on original hardware. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a second hardware revision in another 3 years. This is either going to be an insanely short hardware generation, or a very long one.

I hate to say this because I’m sure it will make people angry but if you’re looking for good games for a 4 year old, there is this game called Knack. Knack has no camera control, uses two simple attacks and proceeds linearly so it is always clear what the goal is. It was the first game my kid ever beat when he was 4 and I only had to help with one boss in the middle of the game.

Happy belated birthday Jeff!

The problem with putting power in the dock so it can act as a hub for multiplayer games, is that everyone has a phone and games have already figured out how to do the "TV is the central hub screen" game

Half step consoles are damaging the "consoles are cheaper than PC" argument, which is one of the few arguments consoles still have in their favor. A console ain't any cheaper than a PC these days if you actually want to play current games at reasonable quality

Not naming hardware iterations the way apple does is dumb as shit because everyone just has to say "Gen 3 Ipad Mini" instead.
