I would like to know if there is any knowledge or speculation about pre conversion Nordic beliefs about stars and more particularly constellations

In The Northman, they reference the “fiery gates of hel” But in all my reading I’ve only understood the old Nordic image of Hel to be a cold place. Do we ever see the idea of a fiery Hel incorporated into Nordic mythology? And if so, is it a result of Christian influence? (Bonus Hel question:) I also have understood Hel to just be the general afterlife, not necessarily a place of torment for misdeeds. Is this also an idea that (we believe) only became incorporated through Christian influence or do we have evidence to believe that Hel was viewed by any old Nordic peoples in this way beforehand?
