Ep 142 - Songs of Ravens With Benny Bråten (Patreon)

In this week's episode Dan sits down with Benny once more for a deep and meaningful conversation about emotions in music and Benny sings a few songs in Norwegian.

Song 1: A World Of Ruins

I cultivated my defeats

I licked my wounds

Till I understood

That the path is created as we walk

There are no losses

Everything can be a new start

When the night is at its darkest

The morning is coming soon

In a world of ruins

can we build ourselves a castle

By laying stone upon stone

Of what has passed

Of a world in ruins

Can we create something great

We can build something new

Where the old one has stood

I needed a fall

To get up and stand

I needed to stop

To start to walk

I felt crushed

Put the pieces together

The picture is new

In the same frame

In a world of ruins

can we build ourselves a castle

By laying stone upon stone

Of what has passed

Of a world in ruins

Can we create something great

We can build something new

Where the old one has stood

Song 2: I Mirror In The Water

I mirror in the water

Sometimes with a smile

Other times there is more doubt

When my thoughts are dark

Like a winter night

Then it´s hard to stand

Even when I give my best

I can fail with brilliance

But it's part of the dance of life

All the choices I´ve made

They have brought me here

To this place on the path of life

I'm not better than others

Not at all

But I probably once thought so

Yes, I probably once thought so

If I feel lonely

I get company from

All the errors of yesterday

When I go in depth

They look like

Large scars and open wounds

If this is the hour of accounting

It doesn’t look too good

But I'll make up as good as I can

When it storms at the sea

The bottom is calm

And I strive to be like that

I strive to live like that

I'm not better than others

Not at all

But I probably once thought so

I'm not better than others

Not at all

But I think that I once thought so

Yes I see that I once thought so

I see that I once thought so

See that I once thought so

I see I once thought so
