Even though David is (rightfully) royally pissed I love how belligerent the listener is. Not having them cave immediately to his anger was oddly satisfying even tho they just got chewed out the entire time for having a death wish

I’ve never related to the listener character more than this one- and I didn’t think anything could be my connection with the Freelancer. Also, I know that I would be a defiant little shit while he’s there, but after being left alone I’d probably be curled in a ball and sobbing as quietly as I could… I felt real guilt over this, like ooof. This one kinda hurt (a lot), but I’m so excited to see where it goes… Except for maybe the pack meeting. We’ve already disappointed David.. But Ash and Milo too? I will sob at that point, if that’s something we get to hear ((even if it’s not this character))

This is my reaction to it, too. I’m not being dramatic or overstating when I say this; but I feel like This Character is the first fictional character I’ve had that “Oh. Hell,” moment with. 23 year old me is chilling in the back of my brain right now going “Hey, remember the fifty times you had similar conversations like this with people who love you in attempts to bring you back in” 🥴

Relating to this listening is heart wrenching and it makes me wonder how many times they've just sat alone and cried by themselves trying to keep up their powerhouse appearance.

I have gained soooo much appreciation for David's character through this storyline and this audio in particular. The confrontation could have gone south fast and ended up pushing the listener away further, but he maintained that their feelings are respected and understood, and that they're still loved and accepted, giving them no opportunity to think that pushing the pack away was the right thing to do. There's no real "punishment" (for something that could easily be considered punishable), just David's wishes and expectations laid out, and the clear fact that the listener has work to do to earn trust back -- but trust that he has shown will be returned. Aside from being a masterfully convincing argument, it's wholly compassionate and...idk, this all probably comes as no surprise to David fans, but I feel like I've seen a different side of him -- after never really connecting with him and Angel -- and I love it. Redacted's writing and delivery is seriously brilliant and continues to surprise me.
