this one ended up shifting themes, so really it's a better fit for "soft boi winter" than "hot boi". sorry for the lack of early access on this one, but i want to make sure it gets out on new year's eve (at least for as many people as possible lol). i hope you all have a great new year's eve/day!

happy new year, erik! i hope this year is kinder to you than last. and now, for my thoughts: i can GUARANTEE you that lovely is really sad about loosing their powers. vincent struggling with the lights, because lovely would have just, powered them on before. it’s their death day, they’re sad of course they’re sad. but they love vincent and they love fireworks, so very bittersweet. vincent is opening up a lot more with them which is amazing to see, probably has something to do with the fact that, lovely is a vampire now, they’re not going to leave or die, he can trust them with his past and that’s beautiful. also his piece about “no one can tell you what healing looks like” beautiful, scream that message from the rooftops PLEASE. and lastly, at the end when vincent is holding them and he says “thank you for being here” he knows that lovely could have stayed dead that night. they could have said no to being a vampire, but they didn’t because they didn’t want to die (which isn’t the best reason) and he knows how hard that choice would have been for them. they could have said no, but he still has his love in his arms, just without that static electricity between them.

Talking about Lovely's 'Death Day" without explicitly talking about inversion made me tear up. I kept expecting it to be brought up by Vincent, but that part of the story was dragged up by my own mind and made me go back and re-listen to Inversion. It is amazing storytelling to allude to past events while trusting your listeners to fill in the "rest of the story" on their own. I continue to be obsessed with both the original universe and the alternate universe and I can't get enough! Happy New Year, Erik!
