Damien's own self-growth just echoes to me how Gavin told Freelancer that they were the one to bring their little "family" together. It all just ... wow. These characters started out wonderful and keep getting better!

Look at him go ☺️ Our closed off, lonely, snappy boy is leaning into his friends and choosing a life for himself that he really wants 💚💚💚 I'm so happy. I spilled my guts in the YouTube comments a bit so I'll keep it together a little more here; it's so good to see how far he's come and how secure he is now in his bonds with his chosen family. Hearing him talk so fondly about Huxley, and Gavin and Lasko, and thanking the Freelancer for bringing them all together was just so sweet and warmed my heart so much. It hadnt occurred to me that we were the first visitor to his apartment! I can't remember if he mentioned that before, I might have to go relisten to that first studying audio again. I probably will anyway just for nostalgias sake. I'm so glad he has a place and people of his own to call home, since it's clear his mother isn't willing to be that for him anymore. Sometimes the familiar doesn't equal safe even though they can feel like the same thing. To me, it feels like Damien's mom represents everything about his past; he modeled himself after her, chasing an ambitious career and distancing himself from others the way she did. They were the only ones there for each other for a long time, and if Damien hadnt changed and learned so much, I don't know if he ever could have come out to her in fear of damaging that relationship. This audio speaks so much to his growth and new beginnings for him; leaving the physical place in which he holed up alone for so long and kept like a fortress for himself, moving into a new place of softness and love and shared living, and also placing the future of his relationship with his mother firmly in her hands, out of his control. Look. At. Him. GO.
