It's a momentous week in the entertainment industry. Warner Media is bringing its entire 2021 theatrical film slate to HBO Max! The movies will play for a 1-month exclusive streaming period at the same time they hit theaters (assuming theaters are around/open).

I decided to hop on the mic and organize a few of my thoughts on this massive news. Listen above, or read up on the news below.

And feel free to let me know if there are any movies you specifically are looking forward to in the comments!

As someone who just bought a 65 inch OLED this is amazing news! However, I'll go back to the theater when things are safe, but the experience, picture quality etc is going to need to be next level to compete with the comforts of home.

Reeeally loved listening to this, Dave. Thank you! I hope that HBO Max adds 4k soon.

Patryk Prus

@derrick I believe Wonder Woman will stream in 4k HDR

So I guess this really only benefits people who have the $$$ to buy nice home theater equipment, but everyone else will end up watching Dune on their laptops or phones, right?

Dan Flanegan

My hope is it leads to an improved experience in the theater because of the competition with home. It would be great after all of this that the result is both increased choices when it comes to how you can consume content on release (home theater, phone, laptop), and the quality of the theater experience. As someone who has the best movie memories from the theater I want to be back there.
