Enjoyed hearing all of your thoughts on this! Just to go back to the issue regarding Archie’s title, this—aside from the other comments about “race” and “skin tone” which I found appalling—was really annoying and upsetting to hear. Meghan mentioned in the interview that Letters Patent (not sure which one but I’m assuming the ones Queen Liz II issued in 1940-something) should ensure Archie and other heirs technically are granted a style/designation/title, so by withholding that for Meghan & Harry’s kids they essentially stripped Archie and any future children of their birthright. This to me is a calculated move, almost even a “punishment” from the Institution ( to be clear, I think the “Institution” is not necessarily the entire “Family” but the high ranking advisors & secretaries that run the Firm behind the scenes alongside the Queen; the “Firm” for me are the Royal Family including advisors/secretaries). I would be rightfully pissed off if my kids were not given that same consideration since these Letters are practically law, but more than that this signified to me that all this fuss on the Firms part is moreso a succession issue than anything else, and a decision with definite racist undertones (unintentional or not). It’s really shady when you also consider how easily the Firm granted multiple Letters Patent (c 2012) for Prince William and his kids (one regarding primogeniture, and another designating his children Prince/Princess before anyone was born yet). It shows that, as you guys mentioned, the Royal Family PR want the narrative to be focused on William and his family, even though in the past few years Harry (and later, Meghan) has ranked much more likeable in the public’s opinion, so should be rewarded for all that work and positive PR they’re bringing in for the Royal Fam. You’d think the Firm/Institution would take all that into perspective and embrace how progressive it would be to have a multiracial prince/princess in the family, but I digress. It is very backwards and just shows that Britain is still steeped in systemic racism... big smh on that point, but aside from my griping about titles, I’m pretty glad Harry, Meghan and the kids got out with their mental health intact. Anyways, thanks for sharing, and looking forward to a follow up on this or the Allen v Farrow finale next week!

Mountain of Conflict

One is the story of years of gaslighting, airing your dirty laundry in public interviews and fear for your own life with critical help from Tyler Perry in a time of need......and the other is Gone Girl!

Loved this! Thank you for sharing this conversation

Well I'm glad some people enjoy my stupid joke about a relatively serious topic. Dave has infected me too much with his boom goes the dynamite (and his Letterboxd lists)

Boy, listening to you have a conversation about anything makes a cup of coffee that much more relaxing. Always nice to hear reason and actual thought these days :) - thanks for sharing.
