Hey folks,

I hope everyone is having a safe and happy Thanksgiving today! I wanted to start a quick thread and ask: What are you thankful for this year? If you have a moment, would love if you would share in the comments. 

In the video above, I share some of my thoughts on what I'm grateful for this year. I appreciate the venue here on this Patreon page to be just a little more personal with folks. Thanks, as always, for your support. 

NOTE: If things go according to plan, I'll also be doing a Twitter Space this morning (9am Pacific time-ish?) with my brother where we discuss what we're thankful for. If you're around, feel free to hop in!

I'm thankful for an amazing family that has taken on the challenges of the pandemic with a positive and loving attitude! Happy Thanksgiving Dave & family! My mom had a stroke 2 weeks ago and I am incredibly thankful that she is alive first of all, but also that her physical function is totally fine! She still has some cognitive problems (ie: finding the right words, problem solving, short term memory) but she is improving every day. We're just getting together with a couple of relatives today and ordered in food. 🥰

I’m thankful for having such a supportive and loving family, for having a bad ass nephew, and the best dog. I’m thankful that I have a job that I don’t hate, and coworkers that I get along really well with. And I’m very thankful for the content that you, The Filmcast, Blank Check, and Black Men Can’t Jump in Hollywood put out. I moved from Chicago to Arizona in July, and you all have helped me get through some pretty difficult times in my life. It feels like I got to take a bit of home here with me. Much love, David! Happy Thanksgiving, Dave and fellow Chenthusiasts! I’m most thankful for successfully pivoting and switching career paths from struggling screenwriter to being treated with respect and thriving as an agency copywriter. Most thankful because, while money doesn’t buy total happiness, it helps. And I’m so thankful to be able to finally regularly, reliably support my family with a salaried position with growth potential and all that grown-up shit. It’s already helped keep my one cat alive and the other two healthy. My son Ezra was born this past year and his older sister Coraline are happy and healthy and fed. My wife Melissa will actually get Hanukkah and Christmas presents this year. I don’t want to live in this capitalist dystopia but as long as I am, I’m thankful for…capital. Crass. I am definitely not thankful for how I had to alter myself in order to achieve all of the above but 🤷🏻. Next year, I hope to be thankful for how I have and can continue to use that capital to help more than just my family so that maybe we can all one day be thankful for not living in this self-fulfilling dystopia of ours. And I’m thankful for you, David. Thanks for it all. -B

Thankful to be in a better place than I was last year. Mentally, physically, geographically, socially, professionally - basically every way possible. Thankful that we have vaccines that allow us to return to movie theaters, concert halls, and classrooms. Thankful that you’ve been sharing your journey with us, Dave. Happy Thanksgiving. I am grateful for so many things that mean so much that are not unique just to me. Family and friends (and dare I say podcast) have helped me deal with the uncertainties of the past 18+ months. A lot of feces was hitting the rotary blades during this time, it was just mentally healthy to avoid the "news" altogether. But, I really want to thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences.

Thanks for the video message, Dave. Eventhough my heart is still very broken 2.5 years after my wife left, I am beyond thankful for my 23 years of marriage. She was, and always will be, the love of my life. I wish that everyone could experience the unity of heart, mind, and soul that we had for most of our lives together.

Thankful to have a partner that is my best friend who I can enjoy the world with and our painfully adorable 4 year old daughter who is only a spoiled brat part of the time. Thankful we can all enjoy so many things together… like maybe a Hawkeye recap podcast… :D
