I couldn't make the watch along, but got to watch it on my living room tv after putting the kids down for the night. I'm still digesting. Thank you for sharing this discussion

I watched along but was too late to enter the Zoom theater door. Afterwards was New York tired so opted out of the Live chat. Here’s my take… I was pleased with the fan service the movie provided and pleasantly surprised at the love story theme! Nice evolution of the “flipped” machines. Gives me hope! The magnetized metal projection of Moroheus was interesting and perplexing. All in all an enjoyable watch!

Thanks for posting, Dave. Thanks to fellow Patreons who shared their opinions. I watched in the theater last night and was home in time for the post watch along discussion; I just couldn't stay awake long enough to participate (East Coast time). Briefly, I thought the beginning was the strongest section. I enjoyed everything up to when Neo was actually re-extracted from the Matrix. I thought that was done as well as I expected. The rest of the movie was overstuffed and lacking in motivations (or, the motivations were unclear, at best).

this movie clearly wasn't a fanservice/cash grab because it didn't bring back any of the action that made the originals notable. Even just talking about the martial arts here: Collin chou and tiger Chen, the twins, the infinite smiths vs neo, there was nothing even close to any of that. also does anyone have any idea why neo doesn't even pick up a gun? is Lana trying to make him into a pacifist or is it intentionally meta like "fuck you if you only liked matrix for the action, that's not what my movies were about"

Bummed I missed this discussion especially after my joking that this Matrix sequel may be related to Space Jam 2. The boardroom scenes are just as egregious lamp-shading about soulless reboots as Space Jam did.

The after chat brought up a lot of good points I agree with and Even still I enjoyed it maybe due ti low expectations I think WB knew we would watch it no matter how many plot holes there were just to experience that world view again. Of course the success of the John Wick movies certainly helped bring the Keaneau fans!
