PATRONS: Thank you for your support this year! I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!

Dave on Dave is an ongoing series in which David Cho and David Chen gather together to discuss life and work. Also, usually David Cho has some harsh words to say about David Chen's stuff!

In this episode: David Chen discusses the prospect of post-Twitter life and expresses doubts about his current path. Then: David Cho makes David Chen a potentially irresistible offer.

Also: In the comments, please rate this podcast on a scale of 1-5 (1 = please stop, 3 = average, 5 = exceeds expectations). Thanks in advance.

4: Dave was too nice to Dave :)

Alec Rodriguez

I rate this podcast a 5. These conversations are not repetitive and continue to be awesome insights into 'how to operate podcast productions.' It's like getting the dvd disc 2 supplements but for podcasts, and those are what sparked my interest in working in production as a teen.

5. I genuinely look forward to Dave on Dave and got excited when this popped up in my feed. I think your guys' friendship has a pretty unique dynamic that lends itself well to these check-ins. Dave is never afraid to hold Dave's feet to the fire, but it's also clear how deeply Dave cares about Dave and wants dave to succeed.

4. Also Dave I definitely prefer the quantity aspect in your new venture! The quality is already way higher then almost any other podcast I listen to. Personally I don‘t need any video content, as I‘m listening and not watching my podcasts.. ;)

5! - I’m thankful for all the good you put out into the world - you’ve been in my earholes for almost 15 years and I appreciate the entertainment and perspective you provide. Happy Thanksgiving!

5 - I’m a patron of all the Chen things (The Filmcast, Decoding TV, Dave’s personal Patreon) and Dave on Dave is quite possibly my favorite series. Dave Cho provides great perspective and motivation while always being hilarious. I’m someone who has so many ‘Doubting Daves’ of my own and it’s comforting to know that someone who I admire and consider incredibly successful deals with a lot of the same anxieties and self doubt. Dave Cho talking you out of those thoughts, truly motivates me (someone who can’t afford therapy, lol). Anyway, cannot praise this series enough! Thanks for this and all the other phenomenal content. 💜

5. These are the kinds of episodes I look forward to the most. Tv reviews can be fun, but discussions about life, work, projects, what’s happening in the world, are my favorite Dave Chen content. You gotta find a way to do a general type commentary weekly podcast for DecodeTV/Everything. Also, I think Rich Roll does some excellent short video clips of his multi hour long podcasts. Just short clips of an interesting conversation that makes you want to tune into the entire thing.

5+ Dave on Dave is how I justify the personal patreon membership. Makes me wish I had started sooner.

Hard 5 - always fascinating conversation

5 - always look forward to a new Dave on Dave. I try to keep up with everything in the Cheniverse but I cant sit through love is blind and I’m even struggling to stay interested in the white lotus even though I enjoy your conversations with Roxana. A peek behind the curtain and your thoughts on the decoding brand going forward are always a nice change of pace and interesting to listen to.

An honest 5. Dave on Dave is my absolute favorite content on this feed. It’s nice to hear someone being honest about the struggle and doubts of launching something while having, essentially, a cheerleader who pokes holes in all those doubts and pushes them forward. It’s motivating and grounding.

5. I am a subscriber to all of Chen's content, and I really enjoy listening to the behind-the-scenes content.

5- feels like the most authentic Dave

4 I am proud of what Dave Chen is doing and enjoy listening to this podcast as it can be such a roller coaster. I always enjoy what Dave Cho has to say as he has some great advice. I feel Dave Chen needs to put up some blinkers and not look at how others are creating for a little bit. Also talk of going back to an old job is sad to hear after making the leap into his own enterprise. I can understand how Doubting Dave can be oppressive and feel right in the moment but remember that you are pursuing a better life in the sense that you get to be your own creator free from contracts and other bullshit.

5. I fucking love these podcasts, I find them fascinating and pretty entertaining. It honestly feels like being a fly on the wall of a private conversation to some extent. I also agree that some more subscriber interaction on the decoding tv feed. (I would have given a 5 with or without Dave's existential dread of actual feedback)

4.37 for numbers sake

Alex Crumb

In all seriousness, I fucking love these conversations.

4 or a 5.... I only say 4 because I wish y'all did this more often! If I'm being greedy, I would also love to hear a tad bit more about Dave Cho's escapades and goings-on and what-have-yous. Also, did that Chris episode drop yet?

4 Initially when I read the episode description and was asked to rate the episode, I had that in mind as I was listening. Overall I always enjoy the Dave on Dave segments and was going to rate this episode as a 3…until David Cho dropped the Twitter offer towards the end of the episode. From David Cho’s reasoning (the Dark Knight quote of “men wanting to watch the world burn” combo’d with the Chen “at least it’s an ethos” line) to your response of not wanting to support Elon + wanting to rebuild your Twitter following elsewhere…that’s what bumped this episode up to a 4 for me.

4 I really appreciate these conversations and honestly they help me inspect whether my own personal work and ambitions have the right clarity of purpose, inspection mechanisms and feedback cycle built in. I would like to question the idea of Dave Chen stepping back into a more producorial role. It feels a little bit like Michael Jordan in the 90's saying "you know, I really think I can do more as a talent scout than as a player". Dave, I think you are the core value proposition in the formula. Kim, Roxanna, Patrick and the rest have been wonderful, but I really think you don't give yourself enough credit in the value you bring within the podcast. I will go and watch shows I'd never consider otherwise, just because you are going to podcast about it. Not that I wouldn't consider podcasts with other hosts, but you are the draw. How can we make it sustainable and rewarding for you to be the on air talent long term?

Marques Stewart

5, I really like these episodes. They are truly the crown jewel of this channel. Please keep them up.

5 - before Dave begged for a positive review ;-)

Wanted to give a 5, the show is a 5, but you’ll get a 4 to keep you honest. No, seriously, the Dave on Daves are fantastic, but they make me feel really bad for Dave (Chen). The other guy, Chris I think, seems to be doing just fine. I know we support Dave on here, but at the same time I feel sort of guilty from the pressure that Dave puts on himself. I just really enjoy all your work, but taking care of Dave should be higher on the priority list. Be well, Daves.

@hanchicago

Rating it a 4. Waiting for The Decision by Dave (on whether to get Twitter verified courtesy of Dave) by the next episode.

Manny Muñoz

Easy 4.8. Maybe a 5 when I’m listening while cooking.

Alicia Chou

5 - really enjoy these episodes, as well as all of your work

Elizabeth Geli

4 for this particular entry but 5 for Dave on Dave generally

Stephen Porcello

5 - I really enjoy following along and rooting for Dave(s)

Nizar B

4.5 - I am also pot-committed to Dave Chen (with my tens of dozens of chips a year). Dave Cho, I've come to value your input on these talks and I'm rooting for the success of your current venture, too.

Craig Belcher

4 - I really enjoy these conversations even though I’m not follow a path like yours or Dave Cho’s. Thanks for the great content!
