Dave on Dave is an ongoing series in which David Cho and David Chen gather together to discuss life and work. Also, usually David Cho has some harsh words to say about David Chen's stuff!

In this episode, the Daves discuss what it means for all of Hollywood to be on strike, Dave Cho shares some feedback on recent DChen podcasts, and then it's time for a Weekly Threads Check-In.

I agree 100% with David Cho about David Chen lightening up on the non-Flimcast pods etc. The video with Joy & Dave go through his dvd collection was fun, funny, charming, and sweet. Same for when they tasted ice cream substitutes; was there also a taste-test of crisps or smthg?

I love these conversations. David Cho always offers advice and, if nothing else, gives Dave Chen things to think about. The discussion on Threads was spot on; I could not agree more with Dave Cho about Black Twitter; that is a part of Twitter that I will definitely miss. (And, I say that as a middle aged white guy.) The other piece is live events, especially sports and/or award ceremonies. That is the market it doesn’t seem like Threads is ready to tap into.

Criticism of David Cho: not enough David Cho!

100% yes to Cho’s criticism but I imagine it’s easier said than done for Chen. I wonder if it’s possible to get some of these potential co-hosts on the show for long engagements: Angie Han, HT Bui, Matt Singer, Kristy Puchko. The best part about this show is the candor, transparency and vulnerability between the hosts. I value the raw BTS of Chen’s media empire at its nascency. It has significantly inspired me to take chances on myself. Definitely reminds me of intimate conversations I have with my own closest friends re life choices, career choices, etc.

I’m taking a moment to comment as I wait for the dog to poop. Does that help the algo?

100% agree with David Cho about listening to other podcasts about film/tv and immediately being turned off. BUT I think the reason for that most of the time is the lack of professionalism — which is what David Chen always provides. Not sure if that comment was helpful or not but love you guys!

I need David Chen to let loose!!!

I'm making such a positive comment right now. DChen, please calculate me into the metric when DCho asks for his status update next.

My theory as to why Dave doesn’t let loose is that he simply disdains the genre of podcast that Tobolowsky would call “guys gabbin”.
