(production notes) Episode 10 (Patreon)
Content
What a treat this was. SO MUCH WORK! But an absolute treat. I'd estimate there's double the complexity in this episode than usual. The shuttle landing, video transitions, the Antarctica Special teaser, 50% more credits, and my monologue at the end.
But after a solid weekend's work, it all came together last night. Despite me tempting fate by changing two things in the video production process, it worked out after all. The whole thing took twice as long to render, as we're now in smoooooth 60fps. Worth it? Who knows.
I have known I wanted my friend Wolfie to voice Antarctica for some time now. They're exactly as fearsome in real life as in the episode. It was a treat to collaborate, after a short introduction and script edit, Wolfie did the whole thing in mostly one take. We punched up a few lines after the first listen, but what you're hearing is mostly take 1.
Though the writing is still me, we tweaked a few lines together, and Wolfie wrote the best (imo) line of the episode 100% themselves:
"I wonder if Seth's motives for this experiment are as clear to you as they are to me?"
Fantastic. Much better than the flat line I had written!
Also an important line is "They are not all dead". That's the first time we've had anything close to concrete, and Wolfie did the line justice. Whether it's true or not remains to be seen...
It is not the last time you'll hear from Antarctica, nor Wolfie.
Thank you so much for sticking with me for season 1, I have the outline for season 2 written (and have since July!), I will now spend 3 weeks in my virtual writing hut, makeing something you'll love even more (with luck!).
I love you all! Thank you so much, talk to you soon.
