(production notes) Episode 3.3 (Patreon)
Content
This was waaaay more complex to produce, with the interplay with IVAN and the extra voice at the end of the episode. (by the way if you're on the AMIGA tier or higher, hear more of IVAN in the Season 2 Special here https://www.patreon.com/posts/44759346)
A difficulty with the format of Lost Terminal is that it is a past-tense monologue format. Seth can't normally talk to anyone directly, and most plot advancement happens 'off-screen', which he then tells us about. Though this is very constraining as a format, it has two chief benefits.
1. It's slightly cheaper (to quote Douglas Adams) and
2. It's so creatively inspiring.
So much of what I am proud of with the podcast (such as the mental health and environmentalism focus) is a product of this limitation: Because Seth can't often talk to people, he has to think things through himself, and because no-one is around to really tell him what has happened to the Earth, he has to wonder to himself the cause.
As the podcast grows (in the way it has been - hello lovely new patrons! <3) I will be able to add new and exciting formats and episodes, and I can't wait to do that. However, the core of Lost Terminal will always be a little AI asking the world why no-one is returning his calls.
OH! I've been thinking about this and here is a good a time to tell you: Lost Terminal will never have adverts. Another benefit of doing everything myself (writing, recording, editing, production and publishing).
Patreon (and shirts! lostterminal.com/store !) is the perfect model for the show.
On that note, thank you all so much, I'll be in touch about the ESA 'signals' document this week! <3
