Hi all. A bit of symmetry with episode 1.3 here - an entire episode in the black box!

The duplicate Seth plot-line is one I've been hinting at, and keen to talk about, for a while. What makes Seth's story so interesting, at least for me to write, is that while he can't have some experiences humans have (due to not having a body), he CAN have many experiences that we can't. One of these is the consequences of copying himself.

The strange way that the other Seth speaks is partly me doing a very flat reading, but also that I've stretched his voice to be 35% slower. I used a poor-quality stretching algorithm deliberately to give the subtle jumps and stutters in the recording. Now that I've done this, I suspect this effect was done to Douglas Rain's recording of HAL, from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It smooths out the emotion in the voice really well! What a discovery.
