[production notes] Episode 5.1 (Patreon)

Welcome to season 5.0! I'm so delighted to have you here for the next big step on the journey.

Obviously, Seth's on a big journey, the biggest so far - and that INCLUDES coming down from orbit! Low Earth Orbit is only about 2,000km up, whereas a voyage pole-to-pole is TEN TIMES that! Even if he DOESN'T get lost...

But also, it's the start of a journey for the podcast. I have big plans, which should unfold over the next few weeks. Included are:

• The new seasonal shirt (making 5 so far)
• A BRAND NEW shirt design that I think you'll love
• More artwork/posters in the store
• MAYBE some physical literature?
• The launch of the new Patreon-only podcast
• And of course NEVER EVER RUNNING ADS

There are also SEVERAL MORE projects in pre-production that I shouldn't mention yet. I'm very excited!

Let's talk about the episode.

Seth's going on a voyage! As teased in the finale of season 4.0. I wasn't sure what shape this was going to take until a few weeks ago, when I had a stroke of inspiration. I will wait to tell you more about the ship until next episode, when Seth gets on board.

Oh! I hope you don't mind the change in format for Lucy talking about the Patreon up top? after talking to fans, I think that there are people missing out on all the bonus stuff you lot enjoy because they skip the credits! I can't blame them, I often skip credits. So, now we have a 15s plug for the Patreon at the start of the episode.

Here's something you might have missed: the 4 crew have names that suggest the journeys their ancestors took from the Novamediterra! Their family names (Such as Noor, which is Arabic) represent their Old Countries, and their first name (such as Linda, Germanic) show where the settled, as the whole population drift north. I have a map for this, but it's in no state to show you - maybe I'll make it pretty one day!

It was fun to re-use some of Wolfie's lines for Antarctica, doubled with Seth. I don't have any in-universe explanation for WHY we can hear her, other than it sounds fun!

Some of you have asked me if there is a wallpaper version of the season logos. THERE IS NOW! I've attached a wallpaper version of S5.0, and I will be announcing a wallpaper pack for patrons of any level this week. Hope you like!

Thanks so much for being here, my life has totally changed over this last year of Lost Terminal, and I can't imagine doing anything else!

Talk to you next week <3
