Season 6.0 in the bag! Thank you all for your support and for sticking with me so far!

I've not talked about this so far, but I've been using a new writing tool, (not sponsored, and it's free!) Obsidian, to write all of season 6. I decided to evaluate it for a season, to see what it gives me on top of my old reliable writing environment, emacs. (If you don't know what emacs is, you shouldn't use it, it's too complex.)

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Obsidian! After 3 months of daily writing with it, I can say so confidently.

The unique selling point for me, was you can make links (like in a wiki, or web pages) between pages, which I've used to link characters to plot points. You can kind of see what's happening here, though I've tried to filter it down to make the graph much smaller:

(Every article about obsidian MUST contain at least one of these network graphs, by the way. I don't make the rules!)

My workflow for an episode in Obsidian is approximately thus:

1. Open a new note with c-o (ctrl-o on pc, cmd-o on mac)
2. Open up the command palette with c-p, type 'template' and hit enter
3. Filter my document templates by typing in part of the template name (in this case 'lost') and hit enter
4. A new episode template is ready to be filled in (I store my templates in the `templates/`folder
5. Write my 500 words for the day
6. Make links to important characters and tag important plot points
7. On publishing day, switch to the preview view, copy and paste the rich text into patreon for the transcript. (this is a little glitchy with long files, so I copy it in quarters.)

Though I pay monthly for obsidian sync, which is presumably where the company gets their money, you don't have to, the editor is entirely free - you could keep your files on a usb drive, in dropbox or some syncing solution. HOWEVER I highly recommend their syncing solution as it allows you to transparently use the android/iphone app, no messing around with files. It's great! I've edited many a script on a train this way!

Let's talk about actual episode.

Arctica has changed her name from Antarctica! I wondered what she would do for ages, but she's not very sentimental, she wants a clear name and to get on with the important work of her life. In the end, the choice was simple!

Oh, I hope it came across in the episode that I, Tris, don't really think that feminine names always end in a vowel etc - that's our unreliable narrator, Seth, not understanding humans and building too-simple rules! I hope Arctica's admonishment of him was clear. Seth doesn't always get everything right - he's learning too!

Hope you liked the teaser of The Peter Special? That's nearly done, and will be dropping on the feed today or tomorrow. If you've listened to Heliophage, you may be relieved to hear Karl NOT pretending to be a depressed robot :-D

Well, that's it! How was the season for you? Please, as always, do comment here, or on twitter, or message me directly to chat if you have any questions. I'd love to chat.

My plans for next season are a little more domestic, we'll meet some new people, and start filling in the blank parts of the Novamediterra map!

Thank you all SO much, have a lovely holiday season, stay warm, eat well, and I'll talk to you again on the 3rd of Jan! <3
