So excited to talk about today's music, y'all.

I wrote the SIGNAL for today's episode using Sonic Pi, a music programming environment, AND YOU CAN TOO!

Here's the code, for the wildly curious: https://github.com/0atman/namtao/blob/main/music/mttf.rb

And when it's playing, it looks like this:

On the right are some delightful winamp-style visualisations, then the log, with every note logged, and under that is the que log, which shows just the human-readable parts of the log.

---

You can write your own music so simply, for example to play the middle C twice on a piano is just:

use_synth :piano
play :C4
play :C4

There's loads of different synth sounds built-in, and clever ways to produce the notes that you can read about.

If you're even remotely interested, you should download it from https://sonic-pi.net today!  It's free, and the guy who makes it releases it as open source software. (he also has a Patreon, which I'm subscribed to).

---

Every year or so for about 5 years or so I've dipped into sonic-pi, but this week was the only time it really clicked for me. I'm going to try to write more music with it - I love programming and music, so I REALLY love music programming!

---

Hope you like the episode, thank you so much, and talk next week <3
