Morning all. The train is finally here!
I feel like the season has properly started now. 9.1 was a lot of set-up, In contrast with 8.1 which was all HAVE YOU SEEN MY GIRL!? in medias res.

We're going to see a lot more of the world on the train here, as there are no train tracks in Siberia, where any large towns might be, we'll be traveling far south, on the old Siberian Express routes. I regret that my schedule precludes me from taking a year off to travel through Russia on it. Maybe one day!

The SIGNAL track today I wrote with the latest version of Sonic Pi, the music-making software where you code your music. Version 4 happened to drop last week, perfect timing! I highly recommend it, it's approachable by everyone, even non-musicians and non-programmers.
You can start with just:
play 40
Go try it: https://sonic-pi.net/

The voice you hear on the track is a young William Gibson, reading his own book, Neuromancer, from which the track gets its title, c.1994.
I'm working my way through all of Gibson's cyberpunk books, starting with the Sprawl Trilogy, though I of course read Neuromancer many years ago. It's a crime that I stopped there!
If you want to listen to his entire recordings, the tapes are archived over at https://archive.org/details/NeuromancerReadByWilliamGibson/ They're low-quality, have occasional skips and jumps, and the text of the book is from an earlier draft - and I would not have it any other way. It's a gritty, low-fi way to experience the story, and entirely in-keeping with the subject matter!

Thank you all for your support, see you next week! <3
