[production-notes] Episode 11.1 & 11.2 (Patreon)

Morning all!

In the last-minute rush to get 11.1's video done, I didn't write any notes, sorry! Let's start there:

The video process, which I had got used to in s10.0 broke over the holidays. Classic! What happened is I had not committed my code, and then switched to the steam deck full time, from my big pc. Good for my power bills (the Deck draws about 20x less power) but bad for my sanity, in this case.

I also forgot that screen-recording the terminal in MKV makes the file unusable in Reaper (my thoughts on Reaper and audio production here), and so I had to transcode it to mp4 for use. The upshot of this, other than the stress of making the late 11.1 video later, was that it's much poorer quality than I'd like. It's not even in 4k. Gross! I have fixed this for 11.3 onwards (I also forgot to fix it for 11.2 because I'm smart).

Seth is in a very different place now isn't he? Something has obviously gone wrong, and we will learn more as the season continues.

I was so excited while writing season 10.0 when I realised that I had the perfect plan to explore Station 6 for a whole season!

The veil is being lifted slightly now that 11.2 is out, more clues are being discovered!

Now for some real behind-the-scenes: Station 6 is based not on the ISS but on MIR! Though I've still taken much science and aesthetic from the ISS. I recently got this coffee table book:

"Interior Space" - full of beautiful ISS photos, it's gorgeous!

As ever, I've tried to keep the depiction of Station 6 as realistic as possible, the science fiction of Lost Terminal is that true AI exists, the rest I try to keep science fact!

NEW SHIRT! @ https://lostterminal.com/store.html

First non-LT-themed shirt,  but it still feels to me quite on-theme!

I was talking to a friend about autism and the challenges people face, and she said this incredible phrase and I knew it had to go on a shirt! (or a notebook or poster, there's lots of options on the store). I was delighted to find that each line has exactly the same number of characters, so putting it in a monospace font allowed the design to make itself, really! I hope you agree!

Thank you for your support, talk next week! <3
