Well well well look who crawled out of an electronics parts bin for an update!
Things have been WILD recently, but I didn't realise until now that I'd missed 4 production notes updates, that's really not OK, sorry folks. TIME FOR A BUMPER UPDATE!!!

Lots of you spotted the return/start of Seth's relationship with KATE, which was fun! It's been really wonderful for me to coalesce all of my ideas about Station 6 that I've hinted about through the last 10 seasons - now we can experience them first-hand! Or whatever is happening to Seth. 1.5th hand?
The music in this episode I again used Renoise to compose, a theme that continues right through this season.
I've switched to M1 mac hardware running Linux, and my normal music workstation, Bitwig, doesn't yet work on it. I'm hopeful they will get round to it, but until then I'm having a really great time using Renoise, it's breaking me out of my recorded-improvisation comfort zone and I feel like I'm more carefully composing rather than improvising.
Renoise.com if you want to check them out, they have a demo version!
I'm DELIGHTED with the music in this one. The title of which hints at what is happening in this chaotic season https://soundcloud.com/namtao/mh2-calling

Some of the effects of climate change are not immediately negative. There can be localised improvements, and while it's tempting (especially for short-sighted politicians) to focus on these gains, perhaps in warming of arctic areas, or increased navigability of previously ice-locked areas, as I've tried to show in this season, it will come crashing down all too soon.
I hope you are enjoying the continued integration of Lojban in the series. I will try to use more of this incredible language in future seasons, I'm really interested in constructed languages, conlangs as a way of experimenting with human communication, or thought. In many ways, that's what I'm doing with LT - experimenting with mental health using AI and tech.

Bit of a serious one here. It's likely that a total nuclear war of mutually assured destruction would be a short one. In the 'Fallout' series, a big influence on LT, it's a single-day war, and I see no reason to change that.
Based on my research a nuclear apocalypse is more and less destructive than we might think. More, instantly, with unimaginable force, leveling an entire city, and less, in that life can return after a time.

This episode and the last I produced simultaneously, to allow me to go on a boardgaming holiday with 50 of my friends, it was wonderful, but WOW was I busy beforehand, producing two LT episodes and a No Boilerplate video ahead of schedule.
In this episode I hope to have solved one of the long-standing plot holes left over from season 1 (the other is Antarctica's references to "snow").
Why did the crew not simply take Space Shuttle Pacifica back to Earth? We know it works because Seth used it. The answer came to me while preparing this season: It is by choice. The war raged below, the ESA itself taken over by faceless military factions. The scientists did not want to come home. Better to live free in orbit but briefly, than return to a planet ravaged by war.
11.7
I am REALLY pleased with this episode. The sound, the music, the story, it's all GREAT.
The sound in 11.6 wasn't as good as it could have been, I experimented with moving the mic further away, to try to get rid of distracting mouth sounds, but it was a failure - the sounds remained, and there was more echoes.
In this episode I went back to my old close proximity setup, and I tried a few things to help: I was well hydrated, used a menthol diffuser to clear my sinuses, and I read out the first act TWICE - once to practise and get my voice used to speaking, and the second time to record.
I'm not trained in vocal performance, though I have played many instruments on-stage, I've never sung. I'm working out how it all works!
This episode has the longest un-translated lojban sentence in, I leave the translation of this as an exercise to the listener.
