Apologies for the lateness of this post, the knock-on effect of covid has pushed my whole production pipeline backwards by a week. However, I'm nearly back to realtime, and will be realtime by monday.

# 12.4

This was my last episode recorded before I got covid. Ah, the past, when I wasn't coughing all the time! I'm extremely fine now friends, thanks everyone for their well-wishes!

As Seth said in the episode: Attu island is strangely the most eastern and western part of the United States - I'm learning so much fun geography researching this podcast!

Kamil has too many open files, doesn't he? Like some of those people with a thousand files on their desktop, that would scare me.

So I've made it very clear in this episode, finally: Linda's family are Quaker, if you know about that it's obvious from the way she talks about them. You will also have noticed that Linda is Muslim, she prays 5 times a day. Though most strongly associated with Christianity, Quakers can be from any, or no, faith.  I admit that I don't know a great deal about either, but I am very interested and enjoy learning and researching both.

# 12.5

A lot more communication this episode, both from the submarine signals and from the octopuses!

I've talked before about "Humanise, Organise, Mechanise", but really spelled it out in this episode. I'm speaking to builders and makers, really: too often we jump to the last part, and build devices or code software, when what we should be doing is exploring the problem more.

Kamil's reverse-engineered one of the common features of robust task management systems that I hardly ever see: separate contexts. It's a feature of the GTD system, which is a very useful, and wildly popular framework. The trick is, when you open your computer, you only see tasks that can be done now, from your computer. When you are out shopping, you only see tasks that can be done while out shopping. Seeing a computer task while picking up groceries is a distraction - worse, a distraction you made worse for yourself!

And of course Kamil is succumbing to something I too often do: Organising my todo system instead of... doing the todos!

I'm extremely happy about the spark radio efficiency analogy - life CAN often be easy, we just have to find a way to MAKE it easier. Our history as a species is linked closely to our tool use as force multipliers.

Thanks all, I plan to get the early episode out during this week, perhaps even tomorrow, ahead of next week. Back to the correct schedule!

Thank you all for your support,
Tris <3
