Prompted by the delay of the 50MEG special, I'm no longer convinced of the value for patrons of the bonus seasons, for a few reasons, and I'd love to know your thoughts both on the current setup and what I could replace it with:

Problems with the current bonus seasons

1.  10 entire episodes is a LOT of work, and it's something I've relied upon kind friends to both WRITE and RECORD (Karl and Robert writing, Karl and Gina recording, so far).

2. I cannot possibly pay them justly for the effort they put in. I pay as much as I can from the LT budget (which thanks to you wonderful people is not nothing!), but it feels still like under-valuing my friends. (If anyone knows the YouTuber TomSka, it's one of his huge regrets that he relied upon the goodwill of unpaid friends in his early career. I would rather not cause the same problems.)

3. The bonus seasons get extremely limited exposure. That's intentional, of course, it's AMIGA and higher patrons only. That is currently 157 people. That's *wonderful* for me, I'm so grateful you're all here! (TRS-80s too, of course!) But that's a tiny audience for the passionate creative work my friends do for me.

4. Though my friends' writing and performances are great, I feel like you're here for MY writing and my performance, right? (not just my world) Maybe I could replace the externally written bonus seasons with MORE of Seth's story, or backstory? (I considered doing more Station 6 story as bonus, there's a LOT there still to tell...)

(To be clear: I'm not talking about changing the single-episode seasonal specials (such as 14.11, coming soon!), they are working great, I love them!)

Alternatives, replacements, and options

You have paid for bonus episodes, and I will continue to provide that.
What would you like instead of these bonus seasons? I can think of a few ideas:

  • Bonus episodes of the current season, read by Seth
  • Bonus episodes of the current season, read by different characters in the season (Lyosha high school drama! Yeshi boat adventures! Tanya and Alek on the Provorny!)
  • Bonus episodes of an on-going patreon-only season, perhaps one set in a different place and time (like a continuation of a Station 6 season), read by Seth
  • Something else?

Note that all the above are read by me, this is a key point, whatever we come up with, I'd like to read it, to keep my production simple, and to avoid under-paying my friends' voice acting.

Thank you so much for your support, and thank you in advance for your advice on this topic.

I've posted this on discord too, in #vip-lost-terminal so everyone can join in using the method that works best for them

I'm fine with getting less. One bonus seth episode would be plenty. What I imagine being fun for bonus episodes is a kind of different format, hearing seth talk with someone instead of him telling us about it. Some random chat he has with some stranger on the radio in a less scripted form. Probably not possible with how the production is set up but that came to mind, as the diary format seems a bit limiting at times.

The individual bonus episodes at the end of each season are more than adequate as patreon rewards for the show. The bonus seasons you produced with your friends are just magical though. Please do not stop making them. If you are worried about paying your friends, please put a Kickstarter (or similar campaign on an alternate crowdfunding platform) up to fund it. Or maybe look into releasing them as stand alone audio novellas for people to buy. I feel literally haunted by heliophage with the robot running endless circles around that track for years.
