Wonderful start! A suggestion: occasionally including a side character (Amy the wife or future characters) into the same illustration/scene with Ian/Isabella would provide comparison and contrast as he slowly changes to become her 'bestie'. It could show how he becomes like her physically, in personality, thinking, emotional interactions, likes/dislikes, etc.
