I personally find battle damage (manly scuffs and bruises) and scars to be hot. However, gore (including open wounds and broken limbs) and death are complete turn-offs for me. As for the MCU knock, it wasn't intended. It's more that Carol is getting sexually dominated by her fans and protegees, and the poster of Carol of looking strong and confident was intended to contrast Carol's position. The fact that it's of the Captain Marvel movie wasn't my idea; was imagining the one image of comic Carol pulling her glove down.
