Id love to try a picnic, maybe with a blanket on the ground. How do you make the shadows to make it look more natural?

Molly

Maybe a Himalayan Blue Poppy? The Himalayan Blue poppy in our garden bloomed a few weeks ago and it was beautiful, I’d love to learn how to paint one 🌸🎨🩵

Katherine

How about seagulls ? Or any ocean themed projects 🌊

Nicola Archbold

Hi Harriet, I’d love to see some Miniature alliums/foxgloves/lupins or something like a pollinator friendly floral scene. Thank you

Leah

I'm always up for more miniatures! Maybe some summer picnic food? Berries and all the things you can make with berries (jam, cakes) Also, hummingbirds!

Kelly Mansulich

I know this sounds crazy but I always struggle with backgrounds. For instance, several of the flowers you feature I love but feel like they would look better with a soft blue or green background than just the white paper I paint them on but I’m always afraid I will mess it up if I do it later and should I plan for it ahead? Use masking liquid, etc. Sometimes I admire similar shades blended but am afraid I’ll take away from the subject. Any tips and examples you can offer would be great.

I'm going to the Hudson Valley with my family for vacation in July. There are beautiful mountains there--one of my favorites is Storm King. Perhaps a river/mountain scene in summer?

Sharon Dobbs

A thatched Irish cottage, a bunch of Hydrangeas (my US garden is full of them right now), and a barn and field or barn and silo, or barn and farmhouse.

Liz Kirkindoll

I would love to paint a mountain scene of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Marianne Alblas

Maybe an old barn in the late afternoon with the sun going down

Susan Bricker

I'd love a beach scene perhaps with sand buckets and seagulls, sand castles, umbrellas, children, adult beach goers (I'm not good with doing people yet)

Erin Berlin

A summer picnic! Puppies at the picnic Fireworks (US 4th of July or other celebration)

I would love the front porch of an old farmhouse with lovely flowers and rocking chairs. A sidewalk cafe. A clothesline full of freshly washed laundry

I second fireworks. Would love to see a good technique for that.

AD

Would love to see a fun collection of sun hats or a line of colorful beach umbrellas. Similar to what you did with the umbrellas a little while back. Lots of different colors and fun details.

A still life of your flowers in a vase on a table... or a bowl of veggies or fruits from the garden. ...or an intersting find on a walk down your road if just the mailbox.
