Hi everyone, you might have seen a quick folk art heart card on social media this week.

On my Daisy tier, you get the quick social media tutorials re-edited just like this one in longer form with a full kit list and voiceover. You can edit your membership in your account page to gain access to the mini flower tutorials and more!

I thought you might appreciate the longer form version of this lovely little Valentines card. Here it is!

It features just one colour: Potters Pink by Daniel Smith. This was the first time I used it and I'd love to hear what you think of this colour if you have it. How do you find it? I found it a bit too liquidy for real fine detail but that might be because it came straight out of the tube and had no time to harden in my palette.

You will need:

A piece of regular printer paper for your template

watercolour paper cold pressed (this card is 3 x 4 inches when folded)

hb pencil

scissors

hard and soft eraser

Brushes I used: pointed round size 0,4/0, rigger size 0

Colours I used: Potters Pink, Daniel Smith

I have 3 brands of Potter’s Pink because I like to compare. 🙂 I found that the Daniel Smith is the most granulating of the three. Perhaps that’s why you found it less than ideal for detail work. Nonetheless, your card turned out lovely!🩷 If I remember correctly, my Schminke came in 2nd and Holbein was the least granulating of the 3.

The differences in the 3 different brands is so helpful. I want to order all 3, but I’m running out of storage space🙄 Thank you, Cami and, of course, Harriet!🩷

This is the magic of Patreon, combining our knowledge and experiences with watercolour makes for a very rich tapestry! I want to try all three as well!

I’ve used it for skin color - very pale. Thought it was great - but I did harden it (left it out for a day) before I used it.. great painting.

I bought Potter’s Pink about two years ago or longer. I used it once and never used it again. The color reminded me of some medicine I took when I was in elementary, school. It looks really pretty on your card, however. Perhaps, I should try it again.💕

Thank you for this! I think I’ll be making this for my godmother this valentine’s! ☺️

You can paint on printer paper

I painted this on sketching paper which is still thicker than printer paper. I've not personally tried painting on printer paper.
