I have absolutely loved putting this tutorial together for you on the Sweet Pea tier and above. This greenhouse painting is a celebration of watercolour and is broken up into 3 tutorials over 3 weeks with the first instalment on this Wednesday. Just edit your membership to the Sweet Pea tier or higher to paint along!
Wedding Season
Ok, this is from this time last year but it's technically from what happened in the first week of June and I never shared it then. I love to use my watercolour painting in all sorts of ways and I loved painting guest portraits at my friends wedding. It was a case of working very fast and efficiently. Keeping details very minimal is a great way to work fast and also to allow for the recipient to see themselves in the piece more easily.
Painting People
I can't help but feel that experience painting wedding portraits at speed last year was such a huge step forward for me in painting people. We painted three tennis players at last week's watercolour hang out and I found these to be quite straightforward peices to paint. But that is only because I practise a lot and more importantly I practice time limited exercises. If you're ever feeling in a creative rut, choose a topic, set a timer and try out painting it with different time limits and you'll unlock a freedom of style you never knew you had! To watch the watercolour hang out screen recording back you can do so here (you need to be in the wild rose tier or higher).
Painting in pieces
This rather peculiar image shows elements of map I've painted for a wedding stationery commission. A lot of my stationery commissions start like this, in pieces, and then I scan and digitise them to make beautiful invitations. If you would like to learn how to digitise your work, check out these tutorials.
Mini Florals for June
June is all about roses, enjoy the roll out of the long form social media tutorials on the Daisy tier and above.
Ant's Birthday!
Ant's birthday is in June so I took him to see his first stadium gig in London. We saw the amazing Sam Fender. Lots of fun!
