Travel essentials

Hi everyone, I am up in Scotland, excitedly awaiting my group of painters! Whenever I travel I have to take my reverse colouring book along. It fills my time with no screens required. Perfect. If you think this would be perfect for your next holiday (kids love this too) then get your copy - and some pens - here!

Talented friends

My good friend and fellow Patreon creator Emma Carlisle gave me one of her originals for my birthday ( I demanded one of her pieces!) I’m so happy to have it framed and up on the wall in my studio. Surround yourself with beautiful things!

A new flowering

We have had a mystery plant shooting up in the garden, taller than all the others. It finally flowered this week! Can you identify it? It looks rather like the flowers I’ve been doodling in the reverse colouring book.

Moulin Rouge

Inspiration is everywhere. I had a great night at the theatre with one of my best friends watching the riot of colour and music that is Moulin Rouge. Even as a touring production it’s impeccable!

A dictionary of color combinations

I first came across this wonderful book at Rosie Harbottle’s retreat. It’s a compendium of beautiful colour palettes, perfect to rifle through before creating a composition.

This week on YouTube

We have a lovely loose watercolour strawberry pattern and a painting vlog from the RHS Hampton court.

Summer scenes

We had a lovely watercolour hang out, painting this sunny scene. The painting screen recording is available for wild rose tier and above!

The flower ID Coreopsis aka Golden Tickseed

Emma Carlisle

I was too distracted by your lovely RHS trousers I didn't even notice that you'd included my framed drawing, love those flowers too, thanks everyone for sharing the name I might have to get some seeds! <3

That is a Coreopsis/Tickseed! They are prolific bloomers and will drop seeds and reseed. I love this variety with the red center <3

How exciting, wishing you a fab time in Scotland! The painting by Emma Carlisle is very special. I particularly love your painting of the rhs installation, I bet they'd be interested in it if you showed it to them! X
