From my Camera roll (Patreon)
Content
I’m sat on a lovely, large hotel bed (in contrast to the campervan’s cosy set up) writing this on the last night of our trip to Scotland. I left home on the 6th July and I’ve travelled many miles and painted many pages in between. I’m really looking forward to sharing more of the retreat and the following trip with you over the coming months but for now here’s a quick snapshot from my camera roll this week:
The long road
We’ve travelled the length of the NC500 - the north coast five hundred mile route around the Scottish highland coast. It’s been breathtakingly beautiful in its scale and magnificence.
Oil spill
We had a little mishap with the oil tank that resulted in an explosion of oil that needed clearing up. I called upon the kindness of strangers and we made two new friends Ally and Tony who allowed us to clean it up on their driveway and insisted we had showers afterwards!
Plein air…in the pub
Painting wherever I could! Here in the Applecross Inn, a favourite of Gerard Butler!
Van Life
crumble has been a real sport adjusting to the rather cramped existence of van travel. He’s stretched out on the hotel bed next to me as I write this,
‘Bog cotton’
One of the many new species of wildflower I came across on our trip.
Painting all aspects of the landscape
And after painting those shells we had a dip in the sea!
Ardvreck castle
just one of the many ruins to spot along the route
Scenic route
The wonderful view from the van that changed every day.
