Hi everyone, I hope you're enjoying your summer and finding plenty of things to paint. It's time for you to submit your suggestions for September's You Choose Youtube feature. I try to include at least 4 of your suggestions for the month. Before commenting please read the bullet points below:

Results will be posted in the September bulletin which is published at the end of August.

First check on my Youtube channel if your suggestion has already been covered.

I am more likely to choose seasonal ideas.

Ooh! I loved the reflections of the rocks in the water from the second Scotland vlog so maybe something that included water reflections, like some flowers over a pond?

Anne-Marie Serpaud

Hello Harriet, the grape harvest is starting in France, would it be possible to paint a scene with bunches of grapes with a basket and pruning shears?

Jenny

Autumnal leaves and seeds and fruit?

Ángela López

Scottish small castle in the middle of a lake surrounded of a light haze

Emma

I'd love to see more of the rock painting from the (brilliant) second Scottish video - we didn't get to see how you created the pebbly, rocky beach and it looked so good.

Emma

A kingfisher please.

Dee

A tutorial of the reflections of the rocks in the water from your Scotland vlog. Would be amazing to do a paint along with you.

Katherine

An apple orchard 🍎

Caterina B

Would love to see a merry-go-round or ferris wheel fairground scene. Thank you

Beth

Oh yes, like the lovely new baby stationary Harriet gave us a peek at!

Lesley

I'd love to try a moonlit meadow scene Harriet. Maybe with a wee bunny being amazed by one of these large, orange harvest moons we get this time of year? 'm new and learning so much. Thanks!

Susann

As a seasonal suggestion: walnuts - both whole and shelled (or a nut with an open shell). Otherwise, I love the mini animals from the baby stationary in “From my camera roll” on August 18, 2025, or a chameleon!

Carina 🌸

I found the rocks in the water from Scotland also stunning 🤩

Karen

I love the baby stationary animals and accessories like ribbons etc. Would love a series of little animals like the mini flowers. Thank you.

Martha Bridges

I want to second the suggestion of a moonlight painting! A harvest moon would be lovely!

Kate Knapp

I would love a fairy garden with gnome/toadstool houses and fairies for my little fairy-loving daughter.

Roby

I’d love mini animals!

Beth

I’m intrigued by the apple orchard as well! I know there are several tutorials that already feature apples, but it’s always lovely to paint them in a different setting: atop a stack of books/pencil/satchel for a back-to-school theme; inside a basket or wheelbarrow for the contrast of round natural shapes alongside a straighter feature; even a quick line and wash which we haven’t done in a bit.

Bec Fowler

Some sort of nighttime scene would be nice. I also love the suggestion of a fairy garden. Or a wombat. lol

Emma

A wombat was second on my list

Jessica

I’d love to see a cute scarecrow in front of a cornfield with crows on his shoulder. I think it would be a cute fall themed painting.

Check out my book A year of Watercolour for a lovely kingfisher tutorial

Jessica

Oh my gosh! That’s fantastic! I’m going to look for it. I just joined here so I’m trying to figure out what’s here versus YouTube. ☺️

Carole Edain Brulé

I would love to learn more about painting water/dewdrops on flowers, fruit! Thanks! xo

BeeDub

Hi Harriet, I think a locker with sports equipment, or standalone items like a baseball glove, baseball bat and baseball Or any type of other international seasonal sport item would be fun to draw/paint

BeeDub

I also would love to learn to paint typical Fair food items - corn dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, ice cream cones, etc…. Or even a roller coaster car 😄

Sarah

Maybe a frog on a lily pad?
