Content

Hi everyone, I hope you're well and feeling inspired to paint in October. Here are some images from my week.

This week on Youtube

We've got an even distribution of Autumn Floral and Halloween Content on Youtube both in wreath form as requested on You Choose Youtube.

Support the independents!

It is so special to find a family run, independent art store and be able to have a passionate talk about art supplies with its proprietor. The Art Shop in Penzance is a real gem that has been going for about 40 years. It was a real tonic. Seek out your independent art shops because they are struggling and we'll miss them when they are gone.

The hunt for a new sap green continues

In that very art shop I picked up a winsor and newton sap green - it's one I think a lot of you have. It's worth a try! I also got a lovely little square sketchbook and pad of watercolour postcards. Having small pages are really good if you're trying landscapes and feel a bit daunted by filling a larger page.

This week on Patreon (sweet pea, wild rose, cherry blossom)

I'm so thrilled how you've enjoyed this Castle painting tutorial. I hope you enjoy the reflection in the final stage this week!

And finally...

I was interviewed by Bloomberg TV regarding my experience on the impact the tariff de minimis exemption has had on my business. Watching it back with all the other contributors, I found it a really useful explainer on what tariffs are, why countries use them and how it shapes economies...all with a bit of flower painting and Crumble thrown in! You can watch it here. We're still having significant struggles but I'm ever grateful for your support!

I find that if you mix Prussian Blue and Daniel Smith Sap Green (which has a yellowy tone) you get something close to Daler-Rowney Sap Green 💚

Adorable news! 🥰🥰🥰

A question about these lovely projects as I’m still learning all about things! The images you mention are on YouTube, like the floral wreath and the Halloween wreath, are they only available to those who pay the membership on YouTube? I don’t see them otherwise and wonder am I missing something? Thanks in advance!

Sue

Very impressive interview, Harriet!

So helpful, thanks and much appreciated. No worries, too, you’re doing a wonderful job. So many things on the go I don’t know how you keep track of it all!
