Fantastic! Thanks for explaining how to draw it ; this is one of the things I love about your tutorials. My husband is a retired train driver and loves trains. I’m hoping that the finished result of this challenge will be his Christmas present. I have plenty of time to practise between now and then. Many, many thanks.

I find this challenge so beautiful! The illustration is fantastic and the colours are really delicate! Thank you so much Harriet.

Fantastic sketching for your first time drawing a train! 🙌🏻 I love how you teach in such an empowering way by normalizing the process of stretching outside our comfort zones and trying new things. The perspective lesson on how to draw the train in a curve was also especially helpful! Can’t wait to give it a try.

I'm extremely intrigued about what type of steam engine that is! I've never seen one with such a small compartment for the engineer; or the compartment part of the passenger car. Off to google English steam engines! LOL! (my father-in-law was a train engineer with the Southern Pacific RR for 44 years).

My boss is a maaaajor train enthusiast (waaay into the Santa Fe line), which is why I will never paint him a train. I'm afraid he d nitpick my creative details to death. I love this train and am soooo excited to paint it .

I absolutely fell in love with this train when you first shared it and I am sooo looking forward to carving some time into my schedule this week to start this

One of my first jobs, while in college here in northern Nevada, was working for Santa Fe Pacific Mining, a subsidiary of the railroad.

Love the limited pallete on this, and the "fun factor" with painting this gorgeous illustration 👌

Thanks Harriet. Amazing to see how train takes shape. Will draw it.

Cool! Think of this tutorial more about teaching painting techniques than accurate train paraphernalia! You’ll then be able to draw a much more accurate one yourself!

This looks fun, I have a wee obsession with steam trains. Hope to get stuck in later today.

This train is powered by the joy of Christmas 😂, you can put one in! I’m not a train specialist!
