Hi everyone, I hope you're well.
I have had a busy week in hibernation mode writing my book but I found some time to paint for fun over the weekend. I've already found that making time for painting with no end goal is influencing my 'work' painting in a very positive way...one day I might even share it with you!
We had such a lovely livestream this weekend and I've just finished the week's filming and I feel energised to tell you all about it!
Sunday's Livestream
We painted two pieces in the weekend's livestream following on from last week's negative space landscapes in the watercolour challenge. I've had a few messages on social media after posting the people walking up the mountain painting and it feels like it's had a huge impact on people. Isn't it funny that the simplest pieces can make the largest impression. But, to achieve simplicity takes confidence and practise and that is exactly what we're doing this month on Patreon. You can watch this recording back on the Cherry Blossom tier.
This week's watercolour challenge
We're adding a little more to these winter landscapes, a bit more colour and a bit more to look at - partly inspired by the Murmurations that Ant went to watch a few weeks ago. Come and join me on Wednesday (Sweet pea tier and above).
Back to basics on Youtube
We're carrying on with a detailed look at the colours I've chosen for my palette over on Youtube. Yellows on Tuesday and Yellow Ochre on Thursday. It's such a useful opportunity to see exactly why we choose the colours we do and where they can be surprising additions to paintings.
R & R
I have been planning to get into golf this year - I want to play with my Mum who is brilliant at it - so I braved Storm Goretti and headed to the driving range with my friend. It's a great way to get frustrations out!
I've not been able to put this book down: The Women by Kristin Hannah - a fictional story of three American Nurses in the Vietnam War; it's inspired me to read around that period of history too. I'm so grateful when a book is brilliant from the first page as I am a reluctant starter of new books but this has prevented too much screen time which is such a positive in the winter months.
I wish you all a very good week and I hope to see lots of you at the Watercolour Hang out next week!
