Hi everyone, you will have seen this quick cut tutorial on social media. As per usual, Patrons get the longer version! I didn't draw this but I've listed pencil and erasers if you want to put in your stem and flower centre as we often do.

This is part of the June Rose Series, as a concerted effort by me to get comfortable with painting all kinds of roses. They are such a popular flower whilst being so varied in style. I get asked to teach them often so this felt like a great challenge for me...and for you!

You will need:

Cold Pressed watercolour Paper

HB pencil

Hard and soft erasers

Colours I used: Hansa Yellow Medium, Buff Titanium, Paynes Grey, Pyrrol Orange, Opera Rose, Permanent Rose, Yellow Ochre, Alizarin Crimson, Green Gold, Sap Green, Deep Sap Green, Burnt Sienna

Brushes I used: Pointed round size 8, 4, 2, 0

I saw this rose in a garden yesterday while on my walk. It’s stunning.

Not only are you quite a talented painter…you are so thoughtful about which roses to paint first (the more “open” one) and so clever to narrow down to roses that are named after people! How fun—and how lucky we are to be taught by you!

Thanks Beth, I'm basically as intimidated by roses as anyone else so this was a nice first one for me too!

I’m a. We member. I have a question. I can’t seem to zoom out to watch you paint, therefore I can’t see the bottom of the painting. Any ideas?

Phyllis

I saw on you tube there are several rose tutorials but for you tube members only. Will you have those here on Patreon?

de Winton Paper co.

Yes, they will be out every monday and friday throughout June on Patreon. On Youtube we cant schedule things for members so they have them all in one go.

Beautiful roses, I have George Burns roses that are very similar ☺️

Curious why these rose tutorials are filmed from so far back and not the regular filming style. It is hard to see what you are doing since the colors are so light.

All of these portrait orientation tutorials are ones that are filmed on my phone as they’re first intended for social media and I had so many requests to also give them to patrons in full length form, that’s what I did x

I couldn't pick up where the Green Gold was used. Could you tell me please?
