Hi everyone, I hope you're well. I've felt so lucky this week as we celebrated three friend's birthdays over the weekend. In the aftermath all I felt was exhausted but I was very happy to have a livestream class to look forward to yesterday - especially as the tennis was getting a bit stressful to watch!

Golden Glittery Glow

The sign of a good time had is taking no photos in my opinion...but we managed to get one in the gorgeous golden hour on Saturday day night for the last of the three weekend birthday celebrations! I'm not entirely sure how I got through it all, I certainly needed a Sunday on the sofa!

Removing all creative barriers

I sat down to paint a few pages from my new Colouring in Art Pad and Postcards this week for the purposes of marketing... and absolutely loved it. With illustrations inspired by my second book Birds, Bees and Blossoms, I really got lost in the moment and had a lot of relaxing fun. Creating these colouring books has reminded me that drawing is something that a lot of people either struggle with, or have little time for if they've got busy lives and want to focus on improving their painting. The art pad and botanical postcards are available for pre order now - they'd make a lovely gift for a budding artist of any age and a great relaxing hobby for summer holidays.

Lavender fields forever!

On tuesday I'm teaching a lavender field tutorial on Youtube, focussing on how effective underpainting can be to give a golden sunny glow to the piece.

Last night's Livestream

The recording of our livestream class is now available to watch here (Cherry blossom tier). It was a great study of how to tackle glassware and the light that bounces off every surface. My hope is this was a good starting point for you all, and I encourage you to keep practicing with different glasses and light sources as the more you do, the better it will get!

Gardener's Journal Note cards

This week we also launched the Gardener's Journal Flower Note Cards, featuring all the flowers from our mini flower painting series that ran throughout last year. I got so much joy from grouping all the flowers by colour and creating this very special set of notecards.

5 mistakes we all make!

On Thursday I have a video going back to basics, showing 5 common mistakes made by beginners and easy ways to fix them. A very handy reminder video for us all, no matter how experienced we are in painting!

I’ve just received a set of beautiful cards which I ordered recently. The packaging alone was so beautiful and carefully thought through. I didn’t want to break the seal. x
