Hi everyone, welcome to You Pick, We Paint! This is where you can make suggestions for themes and topics that will inform the content I put out over the next month. Last month your suggestions featured in Youtube tutorials, on livestreams and social media reels!

It's time for you to submit your suggestions for August by commenting below.

These suggestions will inform my content across all platforms and formats (which will be outlined in the monthly bulletin) relevant for choosing topics to paint on Patreon and on my Social Media reels. I try to include at least 4 of your suggestions for the month. Before commenting please read the bullet points below:

Results will be posted in the August bulletin which is published at the start of the new month

First check on my Youtube channel if your suggestion has already been covered.

I am more likely to choose seasonal ideas.

Montbretia (Crocosmia) is flowering in my garden at the moment and looks so pretty, had a look for it as a mini flower tutorial but I couldn't see any videos for it

Cheryl

I just got from the beach where we watched the most amazing thunderstorm coming ashore at dusk. The sky was so beautiful. I would love to be able to capture that in watercolor.

Sivi Sivanesan

An underwater pond scenev to show the wonderful diversity of life a garden lions can bring

R H

I'd love one with a stranded rowboat and oars on the beach with a storm in the background.

Ann Marie

Fireflies or lightning bugs in wildflower field or garden

Martha Bridges

I would love to paint a fall wreath.

Beth

Fireflies in jars. Picnic hamper. Loved the seashells and shadows from your Scotland trip last year, and could definitely use more practice with sea/ sand/ shells (though you have other tutorials on them, I know!)

Uta

That would be lovely.

Uta

A child, sitting on a jetty with a fishing rod and with feet tangling in the water.

Marie

Camping scene with tents, caravans. Children’s playground scene.

Melanie

I love all things floral as wreaths, tied bouquets, arrangements in urns/vases/pots. Late summer/early fall flowers with those deep colors: sunflowers, asters, marigolds, chrysanthemums, red poppies (open, closed, dried closed in red/burgundy hue), Scottish thistles, red spider lilies. I don't think you would put all of those flowers together, but those are suggestions from which to choose. BTW....absolutely LOVED your peonies painting in June. It is beautiful!

BeeDub

August has peak summer vibes that for me evoke coastal scenes of piers with ferris wheels, fishing off piers; pelicans on wood pier pilings; conch shells with pretty pearlescent corals, pinks, purples on the inside curve aperture

Kathleen

School is starting for the kids in a week, so last days of summer fun. Bike riding, playground, sleepovers. My grandkids just had a water fight with Papa yesterday. So kids getting sprayed or running through the sprinkler.

Sarah McFarland

You have some really amazing Halloween tutorials on your channel but I can never have enough halloween so Id love to see a Halloween decorated front porch, a haunted forest centered around a big haunted looking tree, a witches kitchen and or garden. Halloween is my favorite 😁 It might be a little too early but fall is time to get ready!

Jenny

Bride and groom walking into sunset. Or just more people practice.

Jane Marks

Would love to paint harvest time with a combine in a corn field

Ann

A sunset over a river. Humpback whales 🐋 ♥️. Goldfinch. Afternoon tea table and food.

Teri Sturtevant

I would love to learn how to paint the inside of the Abalone shell, that is blue/green/purple. Or the shell that is pink/yellow and pearlescent. I think it's the inside of the conch shell.

Susan Ing

A lot of swallows and starling birds have been flying around my house lately, a very rare sight here. It would be lovely to be able to paint them either in detail or a looser style, or cineraria flowers

Rayhanah

I’d love a building like St Paul’s Cathedral or such like

Gigi

I would like to have help with 2 point perspective with landscapes or buildings.

Dawn Elizabeth

I always love a beach scene, but as someoe who LOVES Farmers Markets, could we perhaps paint a scene from a market with lots of lovely produce!!

Sabaah K

Romina

Where I live the deer are very happy this time of year. It is not hunting season, and I captured a photo of a deer getting a drink at the pond because it is so hot, and the lovely high sun reflection of the deer and thicket in the pond.

Betsi

An abandoned old New England stone wall in the woods, with a squirrel or some other wildlife

Amy Albritton

We just visited the Grand Canyon but I have trouble painting rocks!!! Would love to paint it w/ a bright sunset. Also, a small child from behind watching fireworks from the 4th of July.

Laura Boxberg

Caper flower or bush, maybe even climbing on a wall ☺️

kaneez merali

how about a hammock between 2 trees with a lake in the background. We used to have one at our cottage that the kids used to relax and read on sunny afternoons. Lovely memories

Mary Lugo

picnic with people

Rollercoaster would be fun. Santa Monica (California) has a roller coaster and a ferris wheel on the pier 🤩

Laura Boxberg

I would love to do a tutorial with only sepia used, as in old photos 🤩 Roman ruin, or something. As a colour-value study.

Holly Geary Brooks

A golfer hitting a tee shot on a links course 🏌️‍♀️😊
